Split the crew down the middle and run two cars each unless competition shows up, lol.

From Autoweek: Joanne Krell, Cadillac director of public relations, said, "Cadillac is out of racing for the time being as it focuses on its core business." So now they have a bunch of Caddies sitting around collecting dust, also. |

That includes drivers when requested. They've said and done as much, and expect an increase in such "loans" in 2008, especially if they once again lack competition in the ALMS. As far as getting involved in team operations with other personnel (you used the term "crew support" and implied most or all of the current P&M personnel, given your suggestion that they be replaced by crew from the Cadillac program), that seems doubtful, and very difficult to do without creating a "de facto factory team," I would think. Could they increase data analysis/management/engineering support, on a model similar to that done by engine and chassis suppliers to prototype teams? Possible, but those personnel will soon be needed to start working on "the next thing." |

E85 is a fuel sucking pretend panacea that serves no purpose, especially now that articles are starting to pop-up, quite frequently, that ethanol is not only NOT the fuel of the future but destructive to the economy. Of course tax payers could always just fork out a few more billion to rebuild the distilleries to other base sources, and then another, and another, and another.... Bob PS--The high performance car mags, have been having a fair number of articles on engine builders and new carbs designed to run on alcohol. That would be fantastic if one lived in Brazil. It also has no connection to any official Chevy project as it was wholly funded by Jay Leno to see if it could be built. More intersting would be the guy who funds a diesel, and performance diesel not a truck block, within a street sportscar shell.

The E85 cars are to be Califonia CARB compliant. Most race fuels will be E85 100 octane very soon anyway. Some of the challenges with E85 race fuels is that it speparates very quickly, and eats fuel cell liners. Fuel needs to pumped out of the Fuel cell each night and should not be stored in the race cars fuel cells. E85 race fuel is not very stable and needs to be produced and used as close to the race date as possible. But Politically - Green and Marketable to the general public as 'doing the right thing." ( makes my gut turn ) |
