1 - It would put many potential competitors off if they had to spend more than 5 minutes in that Ikea maze to purchase the car. 2 - Nothing surer that the Allen Key would be missing, as would 4 important bolts 3 - It would fall apart after 3 months and be put on Gumtree for 1/3 of the price. |

Reminds me of when I was a young lad and had a 1948/215 (FX) Holden ute that required weekly maintenance. After I 'fixed' things I usually had to ring the NRMA to get the patrolman to get the beast going. In the end he would always drop by late Sunday afternoon to see if I needed assistance. Over a couple of years we became great friends and that lasted until his passing a few years ago. |

Interesting to see Speedcafe slightly fanning the flames of a 'war' with their latest poll on the website...

Lambden clearly has won the propaganda war.

Gotta love it when people blindly suck up one person's version of the truth because it suits their agenda.
Nobody here knows the truth. It is wholly unremarkable for 2 people in different places to independently come to the same idea to revive a series everybody views with misty eyes. Lambden has skin in the game and a willing press is airing his angst because it gets clicks - but even he doesn't know if and when the idea was tabled with Oscar or Supercars. |

It s amusing that many of the posters on here who are anti Supercars (Hey DRT) have come out in support of Lambden. Very open minded |

For the Super5000 to have a custom tub complete and a functional chassis not long after the FT5000 would suggest it was born quite awhile ago. The FT5000 tub was purchased complete and the rest will be manufactured locally so they didn't have the worry of manufacturing it beforehand.
Tbh the argument of who was first and who copied who if anyone is pretty irrelevant now and it comes down to which ego's will lead to who's demise. The fact Lambden didn't have the FT5000 doing laps at the Shannons Nationals last weekend was pretty disappointing though, that's his market and he doesn't appear to be doing an awful lot promoting his product. |

They did plenty of promoting of the product last year. It's up to the customers to buy it if they want now. If they hadn't shown interest in buying the cars before last Friday, they likely weren't going to, no matter how many laps of Phillip Island it did. |

Lambden's idea was to run the FT5000 events over the summer months in NZ as well as Australia, like the Tasman Series, so it wouldn't have much to do with the Shannons Nationals either. The Super5000 version seems merely aimed at being just another support category for Supercars to fill its gaps on their program. |

Fiorinotto had the bright idea to make something using Supercar componentry and convinced someone to back him on it - but Supercars as a whole really hasn't backed it at all. I guess they've allowed it to be associated via a logo and if it gets up they'll run it, but given the costs I am not sure it is going to get up. |

Also Alex Davison is Carrera Cup driver. There were no Supercars quotes at the time of the recent release, only PAYCE. PAYCE has funded Fiorinotto and Supercars can provide the structure to run it if it gets up. That's where it starts and ends. Supashock and PAYCE are part of the Supercars circus and they are behind this. |

As I suggested above - backing can occur in many ways outside of cold hard cash.
Many business would pay big dollars to get the kind of support from Supercars which you are downplaying. Quote:
And what is Garth Tander? Along with VASC - there is no way they would have slapped their logo loud and proud on the release let alone drive its comms via their website and social channels Last edited by D.R.T.; 7 Jun 2017 at 06:12. |

I'd say Supercars are just facilitating it.
