Reasonably cheap and I think it would get plenty of exposure. |

Lada will not take part to the new DTM series so it's normal they quit. I hope they go for TCR.
Wtcc it's finished |

Lada is not leaving because WTCC may adopt Class One. WTCC may adopt Class One because manufacturers are leaving and probably there is a need of a complete overhaul. Still though I'm afraid about quality of racing in this case.. TCR is a great platform for customer racing, but don't expect any manufacturer teams because of BoP - why should you put any resourses into the car if it will be balanced by regulations. I think it won't work in a global championship. Again, it's not the first time I say it - regional championships (TCR Europe, Asia etc.) and a global event a.k.a. Macau as a final for the best competitors around the world for TCR would be fantastic. |

If Lada are indeed leaving I don't see how they can put together something even resembling a credible field for next year...

I agree, very sad, the championship had build up to something half decent, but it has all started to come undone with e recent changes and announcements.

I think the main problem is the management of the WTCC and their lack of competence.

3 (or 2) factory Honda 3 (or 2) factory Volvo 1 to 5 SLR Citroen (Bennani almost sure, Chilton maybe) 0 to 3 RML Cruze (Coronel is the most possible, maybe Chilton and maybe an All-Inkl car) 0 to 2 private Honda (if Zengő find sponsors after this seasons performance) So 10-12 cars. |

Here insider say that they will make Vesta TCR to try to cover the costs of TC1 cars. Lada Sport Rosneft will switch to Russian Circuit Championship with both TCR and S2000 Vesta. Also where would be Valente, Tarquini and Catsburg will end? I think that Volvo will get Catsburg or he will concentrate on GT racing Valente said that if he didn't drive for Lada he would drive in TCR And Tarquini? BTCC? TCR? WTCC? |

Also here is on Valente Valente, who was thrown a last-minute lifeline to remain in the WTCC by Lada this year following Rob Huff’s departure, could be forced to look back at the TCR International Series, where he was set to drive for Craft-Bamboo Racing. I'm really worried now that the 2017 WTCC won't happen. Might Lada sell the cars to a private team?

My Tipps for 2018:
fusion with DTM (Class One, an ITC like world series) fusion with TCR International. I doubt that the WTCC alone can be succesfull with Class One rules. Volvo don't have a Class One Car, only Honda, and I doubt that VW gropp, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Nissan/Renault grup want to enter/lease cars for the new championsip. They may continue TC1 rules in the next 2-3 season, but it requires way more support for privateers by the series owner. There are still 5 SLR Citroen, 5-6 Civic, 5-6 RML Cruze and at least 3 Volvo. But it works only if the organizer racionalize the costs and increase the attention (with better race traks, more races, etc.) and give a lot of money for the private teams. |

things are starting to get ugly for the WTCC. I'm really missing the old TC2T days right now. TC1 looks like a big failure.

I think wtcc is almost dead! Ribeiro succeeded to destroy what lotti created with big efforts. The Costa for the car are too high and most of all previous indipendent team switched to tcr. I honestly wonder the sense of going on if there would be just 12 or 13 cars and even adding etcc in the race I guess we would see the lowest quality ever seen until wtcc exist. The 2017 at the moment appear much more dark then 2011 when it entered the 1.6 turbo and there was just chevrolet as official manufacturer.

The problem is that we have only 6 car that can compete surely: 3 Volvo (i hope) and 3 Honda. The other are all privateers but with the cost of the TC1 car, high budget is required for them to race. That's a big problem, even driver like Chilton are struggling... Now i want to see what Ribeiro wants to do...maybe he can pay drivers to race in his championship... |
