congratulations to Peter Dempsey!..he deserved to win the WHT on that one move alone..I've never seen a driver pull off a move like that before! From 4th to 1st at Brooklands under braking, amazing commitment!

Walter Hayes Trophy 2007

Thank you to all who made the seventh-running of the Walter Hayes Trophy such a success.

Many thanks for all the kind words, but the real heroes of the event are everyone on-track, who provide such great racing for us all.

Saying that, off-track heroes are all the Marshals, Officials, Volunteers and more who make an event like this possible.

Again, thank you to all, and congratulations to Peter Dempsey.

Well done James for your involvement in the event, nice to see the fireworks display, forum & prize giving well supported.

Lets hope next years event is as good.

Shame not more spectators turn out for what is some of the best racing of the year.

James Nash star of the meeting though surly! 2nd place in a 1992 car! Amazing talent

Yeah. It was a really great move putting Nev Smyth into the pit wall at over a 100mph. True class.

I didn’t race last year but from my point of view it was the best WHT we have seen......new developments like fireworks and bonfire made the event a more family orientated weekend and still a big grid turned up and the racing was typical FF1600. I was actually glad not to make the final as it was a great race at the front. There were some crashes and spins but I did think the driving standards were pretty good as well.

PS Was Di Resta okay after he hit the National straight bridge?

According to Nev, who is at this moment on his way to casualty with a suspected fractured vertabrae in his neck, it was Mr Nash.

And just in case anyone has any comments, I suggest they look in the latest MSA comic competitors recieve once every quarter. Turn to the judicial hearings section and read up about Henry Surtees.

It was horrible hearing Nev speaking at the presentation, he was truly upset by that incident, not sporting at all.

Well done Cliff and team, another stunning victory & fantasticly turned out cars - again.

Congratulations to Peter and Wayne...

G-day FF fans,

Our online coverage of this year's Walter Hayes Trophy is now available on eFormulaCarNews.com. We're working on the Photo Gallery as I type this message:

http://www.eformulacarnews.com./news_info.php?n=3118

Special thanks to everyone who helped out by getting track and paddock news to us this year. We're already planning out our ideas for 2008 and we'll certainly have someone attending the race to give it our full 'EFCN Trackside Live' coverage.

Congrats to Peter Dempsey for a big victory and kudos to the Ray crew for putting yet another win up for Burt. We've got a couple Ray drivers over here in Canada and I'm sure they're following the recent events with interest.

Take care,

have to say there was a load of weaving on the pit straight! fair doos do it once to stop the guy behond getting an overlap but dont start coming back accross to the left when he has a wheel next to yours!

And as in Nev's case FFS dont keep coming accross when the guy behind has a wheel next to yours! Especially at a place like Silverstone when you can drag past the guy on the next straight. You are lucky not shunting yourself if you do that to someone as well!

The difference between the first Semi and 2nd in terms of class was amazing! watching Nev and Peter towing past each other and accepting each had the speed and was coming past was proper racing, the 2nd semi was just aggressive and really not as good to watch!

i know some people think thats all part of racing, but frankly i think they are wrong.

Rhetorically speaking – why is it only the drivers and spectators are able to observe these driving habits???? Some might even deem it cheating.

I've attended all of the WHTs since 2003, reporting on each of them - the 2004/5/6 events for the dedicated FF1600 website. For me, this was the best of the lot. Although numerically down on the last two years, the quality of the entry was the best yet and the weather was as good as could be expected for early November.

Well done to Peter Dempsey for winning - I was as frustrated as anyone with how the Festival ended, but I'm genuinely pleased that he won the WHT because he is such a good driver. I'm sorry that Josh Fisher didn't go further as I really did think that he stood a chance this weekend, but so did many others. I thought Wayne Boyd was particularly impressive - not just on the circuit but in the way he came across off it.

All in all, a great way to end the season (well, apart from Anglesey in December - I hope you heard the plug, diz).

I guess he was ****ed off cos when him and James nash were pulled up in front of the clerk afterwords the video footage was played back and it showed that Nev Smith drove into the back of James and the Clerk put it down to being Nev's fault.

Neil,

Remember that Carrati bloke at the Festival a few years back in our heat?! He liked to weave! In fact if I remember correctly he told you in parc ferme that if you were in his way again he would put you in the f***ing wall!!!
