A little confused, but reading between the lines are we talking about a former Audi driver?

Just read elsewhere Jernberg is taking a year out or two?
Of the ERC that is! And concentrating on the US Rallycross instead! Shame but so many years as runner up I guess you get fed up! Could return though in future and I bet with a Volvo in 2012 |

Have been a Jernberg fan for years, something to do with the underdog and years of no British drivers in the ERC, now I don't have to feel guilty about supporting LIAM but not sure if I will make it to the USA to wear my Jernberg/Skoda clothing and wave my Swedish flag.

Kind of sad actually that Sweden will lose 2 other topdrivers this year. Together with Larsson 3 big names have dissapeared...
Fortunately there will be 3 Swedish Volvo's but all of them driven by Norwegians... Too bad it takes a lot of time to make car egible for Rallycross, it prevents drivers from building something different, like the Scirocco and Veloster... |

To be totally honest both Keny and Jernberg have been racing every years since the 80's and 90's so you can hardly compain too much! It costs a serious amount of money to do this stuff and even Sweden must sufferin the recession a bit.
I dont blame Mchael for looking at the US, it's a new market anbd their cars are garbage compared to the decent stuff raced in Europe. He might make some serious money selling cars and stuff in the US. As for Larsson, not sure why he ever retired? Just burned out maybe, he was never around for loads of years anyway? But seemed older than the others!! |

Of course it is totally understandable and those drivers sure served their country for many years. But for the Swedish fans it will be a difficult year, as I don't see a Swedish title contender yet...

It is great to see Michael coming here. With the TV coverage and X Games it is no surprise that folk are turning here. Wouldn't be surprised to see more drivers race in both series whenever possible, certainly before X Games so that they can qualify.
Chunder's point is valid in that the front of the field is all ex-ERC machinery. It will be interesting to see how the first "US" car (Hyundai) compares with the ERC born stuff. Obviously others parts of the VAG are sold here and wonder if Jernberg is thinking of establishing himself here and then being their brand representative in something other than a Skoda? Mark |

With D1 RX cars having not much in common with road cars IMO there's no need for complex homologation procedures. |

I used to much prefer the look of the Mk.6 Fiesta but, the more I see of the Mk.7, the more its growing on me. Be interesting to see how Kuypers gets on with the car in 2011.

I see on rallycross.hu that David Johansson is building a DS3 too. Anyone have any news on this and whether it will be ready for Lydden?
I guess that's the main problem with hosting the opener, not all the cars are ready in time! |

Ok so Mat Lysen's in the Clio Supercar this year, so does that mean Walfridsson's got a new one?

After seeing the pictures on the Hungarian Rallycross site I am not so keen on wether I like the position of the new jokerlap. The normal rounds are now shortened and the jokerlap is the original lap. But I think that original corner has always been a very nice one...

Those pictures have really confused me. At first it looks like the joker lap (on the outside) is gravel, and the normal lap is tarmac, and now it looks like the joker lap is tarmac and the normal lap is gravel. If so, I don't see how it will be 2 seconds different, and the exit speed from joker is much faster; could be dangerous.

Image can be brought up to high res! The normal track has tarmac there and is shorter from now on. The Joker Lap extension is using the original track and is all gravel. I guess this is just enough to make the cars doing the Joker Lap at least 2 seconds slower, according to the FIA rules. |
