And has Mike Kelly "only" been marshalling since 1997. You babe!

Why does it seem so much longer?

It depends where you'll be marshalling. More and more circuits are going over to digital radio and scanners will then be of no use.

Scanners.......

Oh how all my memories of wasted hours reading and replying to these threads have come flooding back.....

How could the circuits have been so mean...

Moving to digital radio systems has taken away so much of our fun .....

For most events they use a digital DMR radio system.

For large events (such as F1 and WEC) they bring in a digital MRTC system.

But for smaller club events they use an analogue MRTC system, on the following frequencies:

165.9875 & 170.7875
166.4000 & 171.2000
166.5625 & 171.3625
166.7000 & 171.5875
166.9750 & 171.7500

You'll notice I've merged all the obvious ones into a single thread. It was, I think, 54 threads.

There are plenty of other less obvious ones that could also be merged...

LOL - You will light the blue touch paper with that....

Be aware a lot of circuits and systems are going digital - rendering an analogue scanner redundant - however some places do still use analogue, but it is dying out gradually.

Try this thread:

http://tentenths.com/forum/showthrea...light=Scanners

You find everything on there...I believe.

It does depend which circuit you attend. Many are still analogue, and some have moved to digital. Your best bet will be a Uniden 3600XLT, a Whistler 1088, TRX-1 or -2, either of which decode analogue and the majority of digital formats used at circuits. The TRX-1 and -2 will decode more digital formats.

Some circuits / International events use a [temporary] MRTC NXDN Digital encrypted system, which can only be monitored by an AOR ARDV1 (and soon an AOR ARDV10).

HTH.

Dropped? Or thrown.

Did spend a day last year with someone who had an expensive scanner and inadequate waterproofs. I sincerely hope the presence of the former made up in pleasure terms for the absence of the latter. Couldn't figure it myself.
