They'll just run richer fuel mixtures and smoke more, go just as fast, if not faster. With smaller tanks there's no use to try and stretch a fuel run. Just go 'balls out' and get a nice gap, then pit.

They cant smoke more . Its already in violation of the rules and I dont understand why its not inforced , as it is in the rules .
I dont think they can go any more balls out than they are now ..... with present aero that is . |

That was said the year before, and before that. Nothing has changed though. The 'rules' aren't enforced. Which is why I said what I said. It's a pun intended type of statement.

Peugeot is testing at Estoril some new parts (Yesterday and Today)
See link below: http://autosport.aeiou.pt/gen.pl?p=s...stories/100621 "Peugeot Sport is in Estoril from yesterday with two copies of 908. The goal is to prepare the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, which will be held in Zhuhai, China. The French team is also testing some components that are being developed for next season. Although it has already been champion of sacred ILMC, Peugeot also still want to win the Chinese race. Are present in Estoril Franck Montagny, Stephane Sarrazin, Alexander Wurz and Nicolas Minassian." SOURCE: Autosport Portugal |

There is also some difference at the front, can't quite put my finger on what exactly.

Looks to me like a slightly different splitter at the corners of the car. Also, remember that the last time we saw the hybrid it had the old front bodywork nearly lifted from the old 908, this one looks like the aero they've been using since the Le Mans test day with a few alterations.

Either Peugeot is testing the Hybrid4 for next year (with the current 908 bodywork) or they've decided to use the Hybrid4 livery from now on.

apparently the bodywork in the pic is the "hybrid" bodywork that usually peugeot uses at 1000km of spa, front section of LM bodywork, LM details on body rear but standard height rear wing. Maybe are really testing the hybrid 908 or maybe they will use that livery at zhuhai.

It makes little sense to use the hybrid4 livery without a hybrid drive train.
Anyway, Bruno Famin told John Dagys that the hybrid system will not be ready for Zhuhai. See http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-notebook2/P2/ |

Sept 30 was ~2 weeks ago, maybe they've decided it's ready now?

The fact that Peugeot might have started testing the hybrid 908 on a race track, does not mean that the car is ready to race.
Look at how long the track development of the non-hybrid 908 toke: shakedown July 27, 2010 vs race debut (Sebring) March 18, 2011. The same can be said for the Audi R18: shakedown end of November, 2010 vs race debut (Spa) May 7, 2011. The car was not ready for Sebring, even though it was testing in public sight. In 2010 the same happened with the R15+, which was not ready for Sebring... |

Altough Dagys said "and is now expected to be on track sometime next year" and apparently this info came from Famin. Of course that doesn't rule out lying.

You have to read that sentence in its context. The question is/was whether the hybrid 908 would do its race debut in Zhuhai. So on track perhaps means racing on a track, not testing on a track?

Am I understanding correctly that Montagny Sarrazin Wurz and Minassian were testing the car at Estoril? I only ask because Pagenaud tweeted this on 11 Oct Quote:

Peugeot at Estoril: - 908 2012 version (recent reg updates: new restrictors, fuel tank and supercharger pressure ) - "Some new technical innovations, regarding the engine, that already exist in F1" (according to estoril circuit source... Hybrid with a KERS??) - Michelin test: Dry and wet. source: lemansportugal.com Last edited by LeMans.pt; 13 Oct 2011 at 18:49. |
