How many cars do you want to store ? I might know somewhere but nearer to me (and no not in Spain) Alternatively most pikey sites are so secure that even the police won't go in to them

Had a bit of a big one yesterday at Cadwell in my older Camaro and tested HANS for first time and glad I was wearing it.
I went in to the corner before the bottom straight and suddenly the nearside front suspension dropped like a stone and from there I was a passenger into the tyre wall. The lower ball joint had sheared and if anyone knows these cars the whole weight of the car is sitting on that. Bit aching this morning but nothing serious. Car has a bit of panel damage and will need a new front wing and grill but rest seems OK or will straighten out as these are tough old tanks. The front subframe is about 6" x 3" box and weighs 150lbs! Unfortunately it caused a full course yellow and the race was then abandoned as it was a difficult recovery with the collapsed suspension and even harder getting it home and off the trailer. We had to get a tie down strap and lash it to the wish bones to hold the weight of the car! |

I hope the rebuild goes well Al, glad all the safety equipment did its work. Don't forget a new set of belts before it goes back on track!

Cheers guys once I have sourced parts it shouldn't be too much to put right. Bit of an eye opener when a part fails like that mid corner though!

I doubt that you would want them posted Al but a got a few quick shots post-incident - a blurry one of the car in the tyre wall and a few recovery truck shots. If you want any 'for the record' just let me know!

Sorry to hear, Al - I'd been looking at the pre'83 races as there was a Sud Sprint there that you must have had a dice with, and saw you hadn't started the second race. Didn't think to look at the pre'93 as well.
Hope you aren't too sore - I know from my experience of manhole diving a week or so ago that recovery seems to take longer the older you get! |

Here is the Pre 83 race I was way down on the grid due to getting stuck in 3rd and only doing 3 qually laps and its very difficult to get a tank past on that track, this is not the one I crashed out in plenty of the Alfa, wish he would hold his line next time though!. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Scl...sMm5SoWJzW6Zeg

Well done Al, and as Grantp has just said, nice anticipation.
Does insanity run in your family ?? Taking and driving that "little" car at Cadwell the way you did, and in that heat as well, deserves a medal. |

Thanks guys, to tell the truth I was really struggling on the closing laps I was absolutely exhausted. I mean I am 66 today lol! Touching wood but that seems a real nice little engine I have built there it maks good power, comes off the track with plenty of oil pressure, running nice and cool and no oil leaks whatsoever Halleluiah!
