Fontana gets you into S. California, a big market.

I would prefer Long Beach (same market) but unless LB does something with the layout to accommodate all the cars I do not see the series there. I hope that something is done, but.....

I agree, rovals are not my cup of tea either - I would take Laguna Seca any day over Fontana. The track layout and history of Laguna Seca should win over any roval. I just don't see sportscars working on rovals other than Daytona or Indy, keep tracks like that to a minimum.
But a figure eight race pulling bass boats behind Daytona Prototypes might get me to Fontana, but only if Scott Pruett had to ride in one of the boats being towed... I kid, I kid... No I'm serious... Just kidding... |

ALMS and Grand Am are doing a doubleheader next year at Road America.
And also Grand Am is racing at Road Atlanta in the spring. Hopefully, ALMS can race at Watkins Glen. |

Some back of the envelop schedule thoughts for 2014:
Tracks on both the 2013 GA and 2012 ALMS schedules: (5) Laguna Seca, Lime Rock, Mid-Ohio, Road America, Road Atlanta Plus on both the 2013 GA and ALMS schedules: COTA Sure to be on the 2014 combined schedule: (3) Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen So pick three of: Barbers, Belle Isle, Indy, Kansas, Long Beach, Baltimore, Mosport, VIR -- well, hopefully not Kansas |

Just saw on twitter that GA has picked up a race at COTA next year, and since ALMS signed a contract to race there earlier this year, methinks its guaranteed the combined series will also run there

Very interesting, April 20th at Road ATL, and COTA early on for the GA in 2013...

If Grand Am wants to establish "good will" towards ALMS fans, they should let ALMS race at Watkins Glen next year.

Boats are not that exciting. Travel trailers are better, NO pop tops! Those just make a circus out of the event.

This is sounding more and more like a job for Top gear. But with UK and US top gears merged just for the spirit of the event.

I would expect testing after the G/A round at Road ATL in April as a comparison. |
