[QUOTE=Goat Boy;3078601]Just to play devils advocate maybe the TRS should have been the top class?
Realistically, people would not expect an open wheeler to be slower than a tin-top, so the TRS get an exemption, but if you look at say the V8 Supercars, can you name another tin-top class that race with them that goes round the circuit faster? Carrera Cup and some Australian GT cars are faster on some tracks to V8SC. That why they can't go to some events as support. Don't want to be shown up. |

it goes to show that the 'stars in cars' formula isn't quite there. i do like the 'holes in exhaust ' modification idea. for a big V8, they do sound somewhat 'asthmatic' Maybe the exhausts on the ST's are too restrictive causing them to overheat, and it has nothing to do with oil or radiators |

BUT funnily enough I was a Whincup fan in SC until Team Vodafone switched to Holden - now I am a Davison and Winterbottom fan But there are some, like Lowndes, Murph, Coulthard and The Giz (not in that order necessarily) who I'd always support. Yes I know Lowndes is an Oz but you can't have everything... |

Seen this?
http://www.nzmotorracing.co.nz/nzv8s...urch-fans.html I wonder if there is some other reason for it, like CCC's support for the V8ST's? Just speculating, of course... Does anyone know how CCC voted on the TACCOC's remits last weekend? |

Does anyway know if the issue with the VE has been or will be addressed for the new cars?

I am surprised that nobody has anything to say about Ruapuna potentially being left off next year's NZV8 calendar though...

Volunteers, and they are the ones who man the meeting and make it possible are finding it harder each day to get time off work to support their passion and three big meetings in such a short period of time would be one hellava drain on resources. One also needs to remember that Chch is going though a very tough time due to a shortage of so many facilities that one would normally take for granted and this too may have come into part of the considerations It would have been Canterbury Car Club's choice when they sat around the negotiation table. |

I think last year CCC complained about the lack of financial gain from the meeting, and said they would be better off runing another event instead. Sounds like they got what they wanted. |

Yep, may be they did. May be the penny dropped that real fans (not the officers of Motorsport Promotions, empire builders at Manawatu Motorsport or the grandads of IRC who make most of the posts on this thread to make themselves feel better) prefer to watch Greg Murphy, Jonny Reid and the like rather than Ross Cameron, Dwayne Carter and NZV8s other mega flops. And may be, just may be, CCC told NZV8s to go to h*ll and not the other way around. Cracks me up how you lot always assume the big decisions are made by 'The Governing Body' for want of more 'appropriate' terminology. Fine, in between flicking his very fetching hair back, tripping over his very gay winkle pickers, squirming and butt clenching at the AGM, readily admitted that they were getting under 2,000 paying ticket holders at the rounds. Whilst nobody asked why, it's not rocket science to see that it is because of very average drivers, dreadful promotion, greed, oh, and more greed. Supercars, V8ST and an increasing number understand that in the modern era the drivers are the stars and they therefore get the crowds. There cannot be a sane person in NZ who would actually believe that an event with the likes of Steve Taylor, Dwayne Carter, Ross Cameron and Short per et fils heading the line up can out pull any V8ST round where it has the drivers it has. May be CCC had to make a sensible commercial decision and get rid of the chaff that blights their books - ie Tier 1 (or should that be Tier 1 and a half now?). After all, why change the NZV8s facebook to be one covering anything motorsport in NZ in a pitiful attempt to secure the same amount of likes that V8ST has (Have they actually asked themselves why V8ST has such a huge following?) if your premier class is going to do so well? Off to stitch my sides up now. Keep up the good work - always a laugh reading the deluded piffle from the TMC robbers on this thread. Cheers |

Interesting thing is that Hampton Downs which is not part of the TMC shareholding group has been included in the series this season. Could it be that this year when the Circuit Owners Group and TMC all sat around the table and discussed the seasons format and calendar that they put their hand up and asked to be included this season? |

next you're going to tell us TMC and NZV8s aren't to blame for this cold weather |

Just today heard three interesting points re tier one tonight.
MSP NZV8 sent email out last week stating Suzuki part of there series, wrong. Also stated a past sponsor being involved which I have heard is not true. Lastly has anyone heard of a fall out between fine and proctor business wise. That would make two in the past year with fine being sent home. What else is lies? |

Given the Swift Sport race car is now a well out-of-date model and therefore no longer the marketing proposition it once was, and also given some issues hanging over from last season, how can MSP be sure the manufacturer will back the class again. I'd pick that decision is yet to be made, and MSP (TMC) are talking things up again!
