Drayson-Lola electric proto launched: http://www.racecar-engineering.com/n...-electric-lmp/
Car is not capable of completing races (yet?), just aiming for outright fastest laps. Interestingly car has BHF, but no headlights or BHH. Destined for some ALMS guest appearances? |

some time ago drayson said that he would join ALMS with their complete electric car! In my opinion was too much clear that a car like that could do maybe good timelaps in qualifying but won't never had enough autonomy to stand for a 2h45m race. I don't know how much is possible a battery change during pit stops

The electric Drayson-Lola uses inductive charging. So it is not designed with a changeable battery pack in mind.

I can specifically remember one that had patents on a particular form of wireless battery charging. They might not intend on competing any time in the near future with related technology. It would suggest they're considering further development, though. Edit: see gwyllion's post above. |

Drayson always been a very ambitious character, wouldn´t be surprised if his car shows up at some place - Long Beach in ´eco friendly´ California comes to mind - just to showcase the speed and potential of it while continuing to increase the car´s stamina and aim for a future Le Mans run (could be 2013´s innovative 56th spot).

Not read any reports on the Drayson Lola launch yet but I'd be most interested to see what systems can be transfered to a regular P1 rather than hoping the whole package has any hope of competing in the near future.
That could be the competitive advantage Lola need now they're facing tough competition such as HPD. |

So, it has to sit in the pits while recharging? I wonder how long that will take.... off to send Drayson an email.
edit - I'm reading expected charge time is 4 hours..... I'll post any responses I get from Qualcomm, or Drayson... having said that, 4-5 laps, then a four hour charge, no battery change... hmmmm Last edited by Fogelhund; 11 Jan 2012 at 16:04. |

Drayson has been working on wireless charging. It would require transmitters to be buried under the track surface though, which is absurd. http://www.draysonracingtechnologies...he-fast-lane-8

Looks like Jota are close to announcing their plans for this year. They sent a tweet today saying their 2012 programme would surprise a few people. Hopefully that means they have a prototype lined up.
