Why don't you just have 800hp/soft tyres/200mph down conrod etc etc etc... |

I thought crompton seemed a bit like a deer in the headlights when Phelps pointed out he was on the commission. Maybe not expecting that. the news was happening in front of us |

The way he patiently explained the cars were rev/gear ratio limited down conrod. The effect increased lap speed/hp would have on circuit safety compliance. The number of people involved in signing off on tyre changes. The amount of goodwill there is towards making it happen from those parties etc etc. There again I cant imagine a journalist of Phelps standing would need be bothered with such trivialities. |

It informed the viewers, which is a good thing. You could imagine Mr Ingall asking a question like that too, but perhaps not being criticised for making it. |

I noticed the same about Crompton's responses, and Skaife's responses were similiar in the last few weeks.
To me the last few weeks have shown just how little James Phelps seems to understand about motor racing.... he's been covering the series long enough by now surely to know that it's not like rugby league, and you can't just change rules willy nilly Quote:
Also i'm not really sure what his segment has brought to the program, all the 'breaking news' is generally stuff he's already had printed in that mornings paper... |

Come on! The show is a controlled environment by V8SC and Phelps is fed the information. Its been clear that he doesnt actually understand what he has been communicating. The whole thing is a propaganda piece to try and be seen like the football codes. |

Phelps performances on the show during the last month?
His articles that lack depth, analysis or any form of investigative journalism. Do you think he generates his own topics and stories? Surely you arent that naive he is driven and passionate about motorsport? |

I understand the point of view that Phelps is asking the obvious fan / website questions regarding V8 Supercars.
Both presenters are skilled in answering these types of questions and have done so repeatedly over the past years as part of panels and in general commentary. But I feel the way the questions were answered both by Crompton and Skaife (in previous weeks) demonstrated a dislike of Phelps. Still... i'd rather watch Phelps' scoops than Rianah's social media updates. ![]() |

the guy shows more awareness than a lot of the trolling posters on here, the problem is he talks up the v8s and too many posters on here go on the attack when someone talks up the series because it doesnt fit their agenda or they are just trolling. You can read this very thread to see who they are However Inside Supercars is great watching, sort of like watching a football show on sunday mornings or Monday nights (or thursday nights). Just what the series needed |

Agree 100%... It seems like the format is developing too. ![]() My missus used LOVE larko's technical info and discussion on the 7network. I like the way they follow up on track issues (as per Davo and Tander) and get them head to head. NOT as good as the Ingall-Skaife banter we used to have on the original v8 supercars panel show.. ![]() |

![]() I was harsh on skaife after the first show, but he has definately improved since then, needs to just not get caught up with little in jokes and conversations with the driver next to him |

Not to blow smoke up anyones ar$e but Crompton in the commentary box or on a panel is head and shoulders above any of the other muppets they have on there. He knows all of the participants - not just the drivers but the engineers, owners, the wag's, the sponsors... He knows the cars and the technology. I just think that segments about motorsport are head and shoulders above what ever is going on on someones twitter feed. He, Crompton, along with maybe Mark Larkham are the only ones who have ever appeared to be pushing to explain things properly. Dumbing stuff down simply means broadcasters and journalists ignore the interesting bits. Recently there was a really good piece on Pye and his recovery from an awful road car crash, his time in Europe and his family. Gave me much more respect for the bloke. The thing on Jamie Whincup going jet skiing with Will Davidson didn't. |

How many uneducated fan's are watching Inside Supercars? Actual race fans arent watching the broadcast and side shows.

Perhaps the Inside V8Supercar show needs to take input from the (sensible) fans via Q&A, and explain bits and pieces of the sport to the great unwashed with a separate commentator, who goes and finds out the answers to these kinds of questions.
Might be a good training & development area for Ms Crehan... |

Explain why the series wants to go into other markets. The real reasons, not the made up junk currently shared. Talk about how the structure of V8SC works, how they take feedback loops from their constituents (owners, teams, technical partners, fans etc..) The opportunities to share are limitless here... with the right presented. Maybe Mr Denton can come do it.. |
