How does one vent the cooling system on a 97 tatuus? I failed to do a slow lap for cooling purposes and some water came out of the overflow after I shut the engine down. Now I can't seem to get an adequate amount back into the system. I tried running the engine and pouring water in but it won't take any and the gauge quickly went to 100 degrees while the radiators stayed ice cold. Also, when there is oil in the catch can, does that mean there was too much in the system? I found about 600 ml in there.

ECUs are free too you should get a sheet soon from Renault confirming this and free ratios free wings diffusers and the avon slick tyre list (wets are free). |

I wouldn't reccomend changing the Tatuus wings, we found them very efficient and well balanced. Just make sure you have a stiff front wing tube for the high downforce circuits.
We never had problems with air in the cooling system of that car (Jedrink) The correct way to bleed it is to unscrew the plastic plug at the top of each radiator, although they are difficult to move. Failing that undo the hoses where they go on to the radiator and push quickly them quickly back on as the water comes out. We have to do that to get the Fr2000's to bleed. The oil level should be just on the top of bulge in the oil tank which is the top of the tube that the gearbox shaft passes through. Make sure you run it for a few minutes before you check it to get the level in the sump correct. |

Thanks Bob. I thought of that, too but I assumed there had to be an easier way. But then the car was designed in Italy so it all makes sense.

Regarding the Tatuus, I wouldn't change any of the wings, shape or mounting, except for a stronger front tube and make sure you have two spacers in the rear wing plates ( most cars have). I can't vouch for other makes of car.

Bob - in your opinion - if we put Ian in a well prepped FRenualt run to the new F4 rules (free ratios/40mm/Avons/free ECU/no restrictor) around lets say Snett - any guesstimate of lap times? 1.07s/8s/9s?? Lower?
Or if anyone has a Tattus or similar they wanted to bring to Snett - be intresting to back to back against the current A class F4s... |

In reply to your first question, we really have no idea what the ride height change will do to the handling. The best lap Ian has ever done in a BARC 8 valve at Snett was 69.5. The BARC ratios are closest to correct at Snett, Eurocup chip will help the car along a bit, tyres and restrictor won't make much difference, but the ride height? all I can say is it must slow it down, but by how much? Without the same person doing a back to back we'll never know. |

I don't think you can put a time on it as no one knows how they handle at 40mm. Besides itl take a while for us to tune our cars in and get used to the new circuits F4 does plus of course theres the badger injection to get right (I thought i'd start the racing excuses early).
Anyone looking for chips for the Siemens ECU should contact me as i think i've cracked them. If Anyone had a eurocup chip thingymajig that i could borrow for a week that would help alot too thanks. I like the new regs reserving the right to re-introduce the restrictor. I don't think it'l be needed but i guess no one knows really. Best to be safe. |

So if I could get my hands on a eurocup "EPROM", could I install that in the ECU myself?
Another thing that crossed my mind, would it be cool to use Kumho F3 tires on a F Renault? Will they make the car faster? They would require a 10mm ride height adjustment at the front but other than that they should fit well. |

Anyone know whether an equivalent of the 'Eurocup' chip for the 8V ECU is likely to be available ? - I've never seen an original one for sale.

Does anyone have an external oil pump or pulley that they would like to sell for an 8v? As mine is worn quite badly. If so please contact me as the original manufacturers no longer make them so it would mean having one machined.

If you have disconnected the hydraulics, re connect them, bleed it and press the pedal. The hydraulic pressure will push the assembly out.
