Time for another on-board video, this time Ingram at Thruxton. Great stuff.

That car ain’t slow. I’m sure Sutton didn’t mean to do that, probably didn’t spot him in time. Surprised we had that onboard footage

The Snetterton celebration weekend in July I guess there won't be anything more (racing wise) than the double distance double points 3rd race. No Touring Car Masters-style single make race (imagine a grid of BTCC guys in Ginettas).
I guess off track displays will be substantial, but I feel the ease of seeing older touring cars in action with mean they lose some of the impact they once had at displays in years gone by. |

I think we will just have great racing. Nothing has been suggested there will be a one make race of ex BTCC drivers. Will probably be just a normal weekend of racing

Jordan, Morgan, Neal, Austin, Ingram and PMR at Goodwood FOS this year, plus a host of classics including the Volvo 850..!

Shocker.
I'm a fan of Nash, he's done well in the BTCC and TCR Int. previously, but clearly hasn't delivered this season to date. However, it can take time to get used to the extreme closeness of modern-era BTCC and the cars. Just look at Chilton, 3rd in WTCC to not doing much in the BTCC so far. |

Like others have mentioned, I liked James and it's a shame he didn't get some better results. Really, really hope Dan Lloyd is in the BTCC for good now....
Statement from BTCN - http://btcnorlinracing.com/2018/06/0...norlin-racing/ "James Nash stated “I made a return to BTCC and UK racing due to some exciting events happening in my Business and Personal Life. “I believed racing in the UK would allow me more time to commit to my work, personal and race life. I have enjoyed a lot of success in International racing and have been very disappointed with my current level of results. It is because of all these factors, I have decided to pull out of BTCC until the timing is once again right for me." |

Good news on the Dan Lloyd front. I hope he and the team have the commercials sorted for the remainder of the season.
Nash has been poor; Smiley has left him for dead. |

For me 32 is just right. Clearly, there are no problems getting 32 competitive teams and drivers, so really, in terms of the track action, there's very little point in reducing grid size - especially looking at the improved driving standards this year,

BTCC 2018 in-season discussion
Shame things didn’t go right for Nash, but good to see Lloyd back on the grid, let’s hope he gets as good results as Smiley
I also see no reason to reduce grid size, we’ve seldom had a more competitive grid |

I would agree with that statement in principal - but I would much rather see 32 cars where the majority of the field are competitive (as we have now) than to see a single figure grid of higher quality.

Disappointed to see Nash go, I had hoped for better results for him, he didn't deliver but maybe he'd just need more time. Shame. However great to see Lloyd back, I really hope that he'll finally be able to stay there longer and make some good results.

Don't see the 26 car cap doing any good to be honest. With the grid we have now, axing 6 cars would get rid of the underfunded up and coming stars and lower the grid quality. If teams were told they could only have 2 TBLs or something like that, well Turkington, Goff, Hill, Butcher, Sutton would be more likely to loses seats than, Simpson, Smith, Thompson, Smelt etc.
Teams wouldn't be able to have to 2 journeyman drivers and a great driver with small budget, they'd be forced 1 or 2 cars with whoever has the biggest cheque. Last edited by HopAlong; 6 Jun 2018 at 15:30. |

Read the story rather than the headline. It's mainly because of logistics and the toca paddock getting too big for a small space.

How many teams do we have compared to the past?
