johndpeat should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
So a new season is on the way. Already doing my bit for club as well. Havin spoken to James T at our dinner last week he has come up with an extra goodie for this years 24 hr. He is currently tring to arrange a commerative set of overalls to be given to all marshals who do this years 24hr. However he has asked if you can send the eerc your measurments so they can be made to fit. Send them to James.tucker@eerc.co.uk with an obvious title on the e-mail so he knows what is about.
Before anyone asks the details of the overalls are under dicussion so watch out for updates.

spoke to James Tucker at Autosport and he did say there would be free overalls for marshalls plus goodie bag and food vouchers lets hope the food and service have improved, last year didn't get breakfast on Saturday because if I had waited to be served the race would have finished.

Would it not be easier to add provision for measurements to the voulenteering form to ensure that marshal and measurement don't get mixed up?

Agreed, it could get quite confusing with James getting what could be hundreds of emails at once.

I know my size is "46" for my current probans but i'm not sure if that's what is needed.

he never said anything about ordering in advance just that there would be free overalls for marshalls I assume it will be the same as the RAC freebies at BTCC

James would like to have measurement where possible. Lets face it if he just got in a job lot no body would get the right size. I have been told by James to ask you to give him your size. I belive he has made arragments with Pam to collect some sizes as well.
Unfortunatly the forms come from all the other clubs and not just the EERC and would not be all awear of james plans.

I shall liaise with JT regarding people volunteering via the BRSCC (i.e. me), either direct or via www.marshals.org.uk (Julian Floyd's website). At least we've got time on our side with this.

I saw no harm in volunteering through Julians site and sending EERC's James Tucker an email stating my overalls size! Just want to get underway and looking forward to the best feeling event I've done so far!

I know we are in the season for training days but my daughter is not old enough to do pft at the moment she is only pft short of upgrade from trainee to specialist.

There may be practical fire fighting if last year was anything to go by, IIRC 4 passed me on fire at Abbey over the weekend - and couple got to the refuelling lane

There was a practical fire training session at Donington on a weekday evening in 2006 ( I don't know if there was one last year)

JimW would be the man to ask if it is to be repeated this year.

Dean - depending on when she's old enough - Oulton Park has PFT normally at the BTCC weekend... racing is normally on Saturday and Monday, with a fire training session on Sunday (cos they cant run cars)

Thanks for the replys guys she has to wait until August 1st then she is old enough which is why I thought of the 24hr both Britcar and 2CV.

If she has to wait until next Jan for training day so be it.

BTCC is actually on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July and normally has practical Fire Training on the Sunday morning.

we had the 'firey' porsche at the club straight (much to Shelagh's dismay) and also the BMW (#43?) on Saturday night at Stowe. Quite enough!

This year will be my 1st 24Hr Britcar.
So i know its gonna be dark, but what can be different to day time racing.
eg,how do you handle incidents at night time and how do you do your rotation.
i know its early, but it helps me get me head round certain aspects to deal with.

thanks for any info received

"Rotation" don't be a wuss, you plan to do the whole 24 hrs straight (which is actually over 30 coz you're there first thing Saturday morning)
And then you have a kip in the car at 4in the morning when the fog rolls in & they suspend the race for a couple of hours.
