Diz, Do you remember the odd thing that Peter Childe had before he brought the PRS and what was the car I think that Charles Jordan drove at Kirkistown. The one that could be converted from inboard to outboard suspension. Did Steve Jones build it?

Some more from memory.
1. There was a Pringett Mistrale driven by Martin Blackie 2. Alan Minshaw drove a converted Brabham BT9 which he called a Blackjack 3. Andrew has already mentioned Swift, but this is a totally different animal from the Swift that Ed Moore's dad [Ian I think] built some years earlier. 4. Rondeau 5. Derek Walker built many Ladybirds - mainly Clubmans type cars - but one was an FF1600. Knickerbrook won that contest 6. Vista 7. Beattie If you want a few more, I've just started cheating. http://tentenths.com/forum/archive/i...p/t-46701.html There is also the Steve Nickless book - the Formula Ford Bible - The Anatomy & Development of the Formula Ford Race Car |

Errr...I raced agsint it when you were a kid!! It was out there in the 1990 winter series...I think John Harmer (who was a good FFirst pilot at the time) had a few races in it...would have been about the same time when ur old man had a yellow Ray..
I am sure there was also some called a Mantis that raced at Cadwell - was built by Jim Lee of JLR.. Another one was the Myrtell Special - which was a converted Crossle? Used to race at Oulton a bit |

Best looking Formula Ford.
Originally I owned an Ex Jonathan Palmer Royale RP26 which I raced in the Bernard Hunter series. It looked a bit of a monster compared to the newer cars. Eventually I replaced it with what must be a strong contender for prettiest car, A Mondiale M88S. I bought this car new from the factory, contending it mainly in the Champion of Cadwell series although it made 2 appearances at the festival. The teame were also amongst the most helpful and friendliest. I still own the car, alas it needs a few parts. Does anyone still sell parts for Mondiales?

Another marque from Germany:
WRT Built in 1990 in FF1600 and FF2000 version. My all time favourite: VanDiemen RF90 I first saw one of these in February 1990 at Hockenheim crowded by a lot of people. It looked like a FF1600 version of the Ferrari 640 Formula 1 car. No question, I had to have such a beauty and I still own. |

Another FF1600 car for the list is the Elwyn. The cars were built in Australia in the eighties by Elwyn Bickley. Elwyn came to Europe in 86 to work for the Brabham boys in F3 but went home after a few months. He came back last year and now works for Double R. Lovely guy.

I loved the Delta my dad used to race back in 84 and the Wiet Huidekoper designed Chenel/Wiet he raced was quite special. The Dave Coyne Texaco Swift was sweet as well.

Hello Everyone -
I'm the webmaster for the Euroformula Ford Group, here in Arizona. http://www.euroformulaford.com/ I have a "cars" page, with as many FF's that I could find. Have been working on it for over a year. If any of you have photos of hard to find FF's, it would be greatly appriciated if you could send them my way. PS - The Lola T-340 is the prettiest FF |

I always liked the Reynard 86F, the development of the unloved 85F. Others that come to mind are '87 Mondiale and Crossle 70F.

Revised List
Gentlemen (& Ladies) –
Our “Cars” page has been revised, using the list from the book “Anatomy & development of the Formula Ford Racing car” I believe every FF is now listed (Plus some one off’s not mentioned) If you have any photos of FF’s listed in the bottom table, please send’em my way and I’ll make sure they’re uploaded. Thanks again to the entire FF community for photos & info already sent! Scott snowtwister@cox.net http://www.euroformulaford.com/ Last edited by scotty25; 3 Sep 2007 at 17:07. |
