aparrently they grew in height when judd increased the capacity from 5.0 to 5.5 litres, so some of the neams needed new rear bodywork.......its a general trend, the bigger the capacity, the slower the engine revs, so the port velocity will be slower, hence the extra trumpet length gives a bit more velocity and keeps the torque peak within the driving range.

Totally agree. I wonder why they added silencers. Embassy has them as well, while Porsche does not. Is this to comply with the ACO 113 dB rule?

I presume so...although it does not seem that the ACO is particularly hawkish on this rule. I would anticipate that the Porsches will have to have something on them...if only for optics.

So we will not hear the full scream of a V10 at Le Mans this year after all?

Havent heard that for a few years now anyway .... getting quieter every year , they have those awful "mufflers" on the Judd now .

According to DSC even that doesnt have the same wail it used to in the DBR9, so I'm guessing its muffled aswell? Still sounds nice though !

That's probably more to do with a redesigned exhaust/engine.

The 113dB limit has been in place for the past 2 years, only the Aston Martin DBR9 and GT3 RSR's, possibly the odd Judd, were over the limit when monitored in 2006, to prepare for 2007, when the reg would be enforced.

hold on a minurte, have I missed something or did Sergio Rinlands name just slip in there ......if he is involved on the technical side, then this will just add more credibility to the project, and the car being very fast......hes very well respected and I think designed the last Sauber F1 car that got them on the podium about 4 years ago......he has a very good understanding of mechanical design and is a good aero guy too.....very nice bloke when I met him once too.

yeah, looks like the exhaust has changed, looks like it was once F1 style.......I have read on other posts one of the benefits of throwing it out the side, is it keeps the engine bay temperatures down, if this keeps the intake temperatures low, it will actually be a marginal power increase........a lot of little ones makes one big one - as the saying gos.

yes sir, Sergio Rinland is the EE Engineering Director. And indeed Mr. Burgueño will shake down the car next week.

This car has been hard to recognize as a serious contender for me because I have heard so little about the program until now.

However, DSC paints a very good light on the amount of effort involved in developing it.

Could this car challenge the Pescas for supremacy among the Petrol P1s?

Personally, I think Pesca might get left behind by a few petrol outfits this year - on pure pace at least. However, their strength is their teamwork and solidity, so they might still win out in the end.

Pesca are good, but their car is very old now, and the chassis is nothing short of ancient. I think (this is scandal and rumour ) that the french tried to defend Paris with it in WWII?

Or is it only a Courage with a pretty dress?

Boy, that's off topic.

What do we reckon on the Euskadi- what's the longetivity? I personally think it might do pretty well.
Do they have any sponsors lined up?

They give the impression that it is a well-funded effort; however, the recent interview suggesting that they have had no solid sponsorship agreements in place and, if nothing happens on that front, that they wil be looking for drivers with budget casts a shadow on this project. One would have expected at least one car with a pro line-up.

We will see but it is a big contrast with the approach Embassy are taking.

hmmm- there was the "government" stuff i guess- maybe they have a driver in the pipeline with a bit of sponsorship umph and a bit of pace too? Maybe they just don't wanna announce? *cough*carlos sainz?*cough*

Car racing is on the up in spain thanks to fernando "toys and prams" alonso, so maybe we can see some kind of big investment.

If it is that serious an effort, why wouldn't a sponsor step in? I think since the project has been so quiet, that sponsors havent had a chance to notice. Now that their picture is all over the web I think we will see some companies forking over the cash.

Most likely.

Telefonica could be a potential sponsor, but they already sponsor Charouz Racing through their O2 brand...

Is there any other noteworthy Spanish companies?
