the Subaru looks vaguelly like the APR Corolla. Should be interesting to watch. This is why I love SuperGT the last open Sports car championship. GT300 anyway.

Technical regulations of S-GT in 2010 were made public by JAF.
Articles "Vehicle admitted by JAF" were newly added as a base vehicle of GT500. I think this articles to have been installed for Honda. It has been decided that the base vehicle of GT500 should be FR vehicle from this year. However, Honda was participating in S-GT with MR-NSX this year because the development of new FR-NSX had been discontinued. They don't have the base vehicle of FR now. Therefore, I think that they participate in S-GT in an original FR vehicle next year by using articles "Vehicle admitted by JAF". |

couldn't they use the S2000? There both discontinued but the S2000 might be more competitive and fits the rules perfectly.Then they could use the FNippon V8. Is the plan for SuperGT GT500 and FNippon to use the same V8 engines still going ahead? V8 S2000 sounds like fun!

Yes. S2000 is the only FR-car that Honda sell. However, S2000 is not a flagship car such as GT-R and LEXUS SC(and LF-A). And, S2000 is "Cars registered with JAF as registered vehicles". So, regulations need not be revised for S2000. In GT500 class, the same chassis is obligated to be used for 2 years or more. Toyota has introduced a new chassis this year. So, they can't change the car next year. Honda and Nissan can exchange chassis in 2010. But, Nissan will participate in 2010 with GT-R. Then, thinking that the regulation was revised for Honda is usual. Therefore, I think that Honda participates in S-GT in an original vehicle(like Acura Advanced Coupe Concept) in 2010. |

That would seem like Honda's only option for 2010 would be to base their racer on a concept car.
Sad to see the NSX leave Super GT, such a beautiful car, so many good memories. Im guessing the FR rule is only for GT500?? Hopefully not for GT300, that would rule out 3/4 of the class instantly for 2010. That would be a massive shame, I quite enjoy the variety of the machines in GT300. |

Does that mean Honda will build a sort of prototype that's not related to any production car at all, or are they going to make a silhouette version (DTM-style) of one of the cars they're selling?

Yes, FR rule is only for GT500. To Dead-Eye It is the former. Thanks Japanese Samurai; do you know if the JLOC R-GT chassis used in GT300, will be one of the two cars of the Asian Le Mans Series round in Okayama?
I thought JLOC run the R-GTs in the ACO GT1 configuration (as team Nova do) in GT500 class, to test the car for Asian LMS :-( Do you know if they plan this for next SuperGT round of Autopolis? |
