Nothing but hassle to my boss are these Stilo's. Or perhaps it's more to do with the dealers.
Never mind gives me a laugh or two during the day.. |

So to further wander off topic, did holden ever have it's own line of engines (ala pontiac, buick, olds in the 50's-70's) or have they always been chevy engines? Also done any speed parts? Robert

I have a Stilo Abarth as well, but in light blue. Very good engine that sounds like an old Quattro when you give it a bit of stick. You can also drive around town in 5th gear if you so wish, theres that much torque! |

Robert, yes they had their 'own' V8. The SBC only appeared in '67 to maybe '73. The Holden V8 in 253 & 308 (you'll never be late in a 308) guises 1st appeared about '70 (not sure on that.. in fact all these years could be off by a year!) and was used in various forms until '98 (I think - I also have a (VS) '97 HSV Clubsport which uses an injected version and they used it in the next model, the VT) when they replaced it with the Gen3 Chev (VT, series 2). They have a good array of go-fast bits, including 383 stoker cranks, manifolds, etc

Excellent, I hope I didn't come off condesending, I just am not that familiar with the australian musclecars. So have you hopped yours up yet? Robert
PS Car Craft runs pictures and such of the cool rear wheel drive cars you get in australia that we don't get here, makes me jealous, I must say. Last edited by noise boy 2; 11 Feb 2004 at 01:20. |

Seems a lot of the next generation of larger sedans are going to go back to rear drive. |

FWD is ok to drive, I prefer AWD myself... the Monaro is coming out soon with an AWD platform, meaning a 300kW V8 engine and a brilliant drivetrain!!!

...and shuddering understeer
is there such a thing as too much grip? Holdens put enough strain on their tyres already. perhaps they should sort their suspension properly before experimenting wth AWD. |

Too much grip is when you can't get the rear tyres to break loose in a corner. Luckily I've never had too much grip

so... something like a porsche 996 Carrera 4S?
that thing has 295mm tyres on the back, but AWD and 235kw. Grip Overkill, methinks. |

The Mitsubishi Evolutions seem to have mastered the 4wd understeer problem with the latest cars.
