Vettel has been confirmed for WSR, although I don't know if there is a team lined up yet.

Considering he raced for Carlin for two races last season in WRS, I expect to see Vettel heading that way; probably alongside Jarvis (who raced for Carlin in F3). And back on topic; my current guesses (formatting stolen shamelessly from above)
Code:
ART Viso Senna Minardi Piquet Negrao Rodriguez iSport Conway Glock Super Nova Yoshimoto di Grassi Arden Ammermuller Zaugg FMS Pizzonia Tahinci Trident Zuber Hirate Racing Engineering Razia Villa Dams Lapierre Nakajima DPR Jelley ??? BCN Lopez Soucek Durango Perera Filipi Campos Pantano ??? |

I would switch Ammermuller to ART, Zuber to Isport and Glock to Trident.

Danielsson said already after the Donington weekend that he got offers from 5(!) GP2 teams and considering the way the season went on after that I don't think it made him any less popular
He said himself that he can't afford any more GP2 tests this winter but also stated that it wasn't really needed. If he doesn't get the F1 test seat for next year that he seems to be aiming for, I'm pretty sure we'll see him in GP2. |

5 GP2 teams? That's impressive. Could you possibly link to that article, it sounds really interesting.
With a choice of teams like that he seems pretty certain to get a good ride; another contender for next year. Personally, I can't help but think this pre-season is quite different from the previous one, seeing as Hamilton was a clear favourite last year but now there is very little idea of how things stand. That said, I thought Kovalainen had it on a plate in 2005, and that didn't work out, so maybe no predictions is a good thing. |

I am assuming not bad, but the beginning of the season is still ways away. Alfonso de Orleans Racer Join Date: Jan 2004 Near the Jerez race track, Spain Posts: 175 Yep, one spare seat and for less than half the budget thanks to our team sponsors. At the moment I am looking for the right driver who deserves the seat. That's having at least one eye on him. |

Ok. I'm not sure if I'm being really slow here, but there was an interesting bit of news in this weeks autosport which could affect GP2 driver placements next year.
The magazine (not the website as far as I can tell however) is reporting that Timo Glock has signed to BMW as a second test driver, like Vettel. That's interesting from my point of view, because as many before have commented, it's very difficult to both test an F1 car and race a GP2 race in the same weekend. From this I'm guessing that Glock isn't going to be playing a part in next years GP2 campaign, although it does possibly allow Vettel back into the chase for a seat. My personal thought is that they're going to primarily use Vettel as a race test driver, with Glock taking up testing duties when the WSR is running. |

Yes it'll be interesting to see what Bee-em do with them and that other young guy they tested a couple of weeks ago?
I missed a couple of key names that some of you guys have rightly added to the mix like Viso, Piccione and Zuber. Me of short memory!! A much earlier post I made about next years runners suggested the following: Quote:
As the likes of jackman, go for pole have said we can expect to see Glock, Senna, Danielsson, Soucek, Conway, Ammermuller, Di Grassi also on the grid bringing the probable number of seats remaining to 6? It's just a case of how and where they're going to slot in? Last edited by chunterer; 15 Nov 2006 at 15:04. |

I have seen nothing of Piccione and I don't think he has th budget (Although I hope hes has it).
And I think we have all forgotten Petrov and his money. |

Piccione has the budget. As does Petrov, considering Russia is paying for him to race.

So the fact that they've got some dough could mean that they conceivably end up fighting for the same seat?
I know who i'd plump for... |

Read some news about Alx Danielsson today
This weekend he tested the WSbR-car for next year, evaluating new technical solutions etc.. Renault was very impressed with how consistent he was and with the feedback he gave. He might now be in for Renault's RDD programme which means a paid GP2 seat for 2007 and lots of F1-testing. source: http://expressen.se/index.jsp?a=755715 (in Swedish) |

Well, it might not be testing, but Conway winning Macau has got to help his GP2 chances mightily. To put him down in DPR would be criminal.

Which is Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell. On the whole, I can't imagine they don't have all the contacts they need to get him there; all he needs is the money and the pace. From what I've heard, he has those as well...
