Max, be careful what you wish for! (BTW it's Marcos that employed a wooden chassis ) There are already new (Triumph chassis) SLRs under construction. 3, last time I heard, based on period TR4s and identities. The existing TR chassis car doesn't (or didn't) have an HTP, as it was modified over the years and recent owner(s) didn't want to take the car back to original- thus losing some history. If the new ones are the same as that car when originally built, they should be eligible for papers if the owners want to race..... Meanwhile- A certain Morgan dealer has decided that if a body buck now exists, why not make some more Morgan chassis SLRs as well........? Not sure how far those plans have got, but expect it will happen. What the above will never do is devalue the 4 original cars. They are too well known! |

And regarding the SLR- I've always been puzzled as to why a car intended for Le Mans had such a poor headlamp layout..... IMHO the red car has the most aesthetically pleasing rad opening |

You are off course correct, as I would expect, but surely LM was one of the races they had in mind? When Porsche introduced the mid engined 904 'road car' it moved the game on too far for many........

TVR, Ginetta, Sunbeam, Lotus, Healey, AC and even MG(pre MGB), the list is endless but I'm afraid Morgans don't cut it with me; as Mike says it's a Marmite thing I guess, each to their own What's a Mazda?

Changing the subject- walking past Nch rail station mid morning, I was nearly mowed down by a convoy of cars exiting. 5 vehicles- 3 Discos with two suited male occupants (all passengers on their phone), a BMW saloon with same, and between them a Jag XJ limo such as politicians get driven around in....
Ah, just found out the PM was in town! |

Be careful, Bob, the more recent Plus 4s (including the limited edition "Baby doll" MK V racers) have 2 litre Duratec engines (actually a Mazda MZR, designed by Yamaha, I think) and a 6 speed gearbox, both the same as you would get in.....a Mazda MX5 Mk3.

I was searching the old memory banks to list the engines that Morgan have used over the years. Here's a start.... (No search engines involved )
BMW V8 of different types or spec Rover V8 of different specs Ford V6 of different types Ford / Cosworth Duratec Triumph TR Rover 'O' series Fiat TwinCam Ford CVH (probably the least desirable....) Ford Pre Crossflow GT spec Coventry Climax ? ? |
