just a personal opinion, but i would only put LH in Alonso's category. actually inclined to place LH above Alonso given how few mistakes LH makes relative to Seb.

There is a big difference between trying to wring every ounce of performance out of a car, and waiting for Mercedes to give you permission to up the performance of the engine seven notches and blow the opposition into the weeds.

I think that pole lap was not just turning up the engine. That really did take it out of Hamilton. Drama queen or not, he put everything into that.

Yep, if anyone thinks that was all down to turning up the engine, they're either deluded or biased against a brilliant driver at his very best.

Small problem. The post you refer to was posted 17 hours before qualifying, make of that what you will, but then I guess you have.

Yeah. It was a pretty damn good lap. I couldn’t believe the time when I saw it on the screen!

Well it'll be hard to tell. We'll see what Sainz and Norris can do with next season's car

Im expecting zero from Norris. Overhyped is my call. I used to be a great fan when he was doing the Downunder F Toyotas but now I think he is out of his depth against Russell....They both probably have more to learn than offer, especially Lando.
I honestly believe that Landos selection was down to his F1 seat in 2019 or I am free to go contract I had heard he had. I will be happy to be proved wrong, on any count. After all I only watch mostly from the sofa.. |

Norris maybe could have done with another season in GP2, but if he’s that good, he’ll find F1 no problem

Maybe the fact that Russell's team has a lot more experience in F2/GP2 than Norris' team is helping him a bit too?

McLaren-Renault, lapped by Red Bull-Renault in Russia even though McLaren-Renault started ahead on the grid.
"Now we can fight" (by having Renault power units) --- not even close to true! What a dismal car and team, a farce. |

Their car has a different aero concept compared to top teams like RBR and Ferrari. Their plough nose and bargeboard area is unlike any other team. It's hard to understand why they are trying to do that.

I am sure that by now McLaren understands that their chassis is a poor excuse for a F1 car…

More concerning is that like Williams they have not been able to improve it, both teams have lost more ground to the front rather than any gains. Gary Anderson has made the point in the past that until the regs change, most successful F1 cars are an evolution of the last one and that if you have a fundamental problem with the car that you don't understand, it is in fact quite easy to design that into the next car. |

some might say its an unconventional strategy, but Mclaren have decided to enter in an older car for the Japanese GP!
