Well of course, but it seems that there is a need to develop a new car after 3 years to keep it up to date. The R10 and 908 being great examples.

Me thinks that some time spent at http://www.mulsannescorner.com/ is needed, while also finding out why many of the chassis (tubs) were changed via the same page (hint: rules pdfs). L.P. |

But i still have my doubt over how the ARX-01 will work in the new Lmp1 class, and the new Audi's and Peugeot's are going to be fast. (Maybe even the new diesel WR being a major competitor?) But your right about the chassis limits. |

HPD had a new chassis, they chose to mothball it, so do they have any interest in chassis beyond using up current supplies of the P2 car?
If HPD are a money making operation, they have an engine that is powerful, reliable, and could dominate the 2011 and beyond customer P1 market. 'Powered by Honda' could become a familiar sight, and provide good marketing in Europe now the F1 program is no more. |

R15+ uses the same tub design as the R15-why does it have the forked nose? Because Audi didn't want to re-crash test the car, hence they're also using the same tub(and engine and suspension).

I was trying to be funny, since all of the talk this offseason has been about the R15+ and not the new Acura bodywork. I understand it is tough in a message board type environment.

http://gordonkirby.com/categories/co..._is_no231.html Good article on the future of HPD engines. Looks like HPD will be bringing out a new P2 engine in 2011. They also want to go back in to P1 with a new generation of engine, seems likely that it will be a turbo V6 since HPD is trying to get Indy to adopt the ACO rules and they want to run a V6 at Indy. From what Berkman is saying it seems like the new P1 engine wont be ready till 2012, so will Highcroft stay with the current V8 and move up to P1 or will they opt for the new P2 engine and stay where they. If they do move up next year it will be enjoyable to watch them against Audi and Peugeot.

If anything it sounds like HPD are waiting for the Highcroft deal to end so they become a full paying customer like RML/Straake. Last edited by JAG; 27 Apr 2010 at 16:33. |

I think it is, and has been, pretty clear that HPD is not a 'works' type of operation at his point, but rather a 'customer' type. And the Highcroft tie in is of a pre existing nature. That being said, why would Highcroft want to change that as the HPD ARX-01 seems to be the bench mark at the moment for non works cars!! Unless of course they land a works/semi-works contract.

IMHO, Highcroft is a Put Option for Honda.

Highcroft testing in the Wirth simulator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQTQjRVsoV4
The experience seemed very new for Marco Werner. So I guess Audi (and Peugeot) don't have access to this high tech gadget. |

I think it's more the case that they have enough money, being factory teams, to afford the interminable miles of numberless 24h-36h track tests and haven't yet considered simulators at the scale Wirth uses them (and F1 teams do).

Aaargh! I was hoping to see the actual simulator little better. The Acura program Speed aired (can't remember the name... Advance to Victory or something?) last year before Sebring had a better look.
I guess it's not too different from Red Bull's or Williams' simulators. Funnily enough, Red Bull's sim is using a pro version of a computer game that sells for $30 (rFactor Pro). |
