Is there any word on viewing figures from the Oz race for Sky and Ch4?

Also, depends how you interpret the wording 'race day coverage' - he doesn't explicitly say 'the live race' coverage was 2.1 million. |

Because Sky isn't universally available across all platforms in the way that CH4 is, actual viewer numbers don't make a lot of sense.
2.1 million out of over 10 million SkyTV subscribed households (available to all SkyTV Subscribers through Sky 1). I don't know what access Sky have to viewership figures for other platforms other than NowTV, so those may be in addition or inclusive. CH4 is available across all platforms to every house in the UK, from 2017 UK government figures so add a few more on since then. Quote:

found this site...seems like a very good break down of the numbers and discusses those other platforms.
https://motorsportbroadcasting.com/2...-tv-platforms/ One of the drivers behind the increase was Sky One, which on its own added over half a million viewers. The first three races are airing live on Sky One, but what happens to those viewers when that disappears? If Sky One’s viewers migrate over to the F1 channel to follow the sport, then that is great news for Sky. Similarly, the opposite is true if Sky One’s audience returns back to Channel 4’s highlights package from Baku onwards. and this part on Croft's tweet Update on March 18th at 20:10 – Not long after I posted this, Sky’s F1 lead commentator David Croft posted on Twitter that Sky’s coverage reached 2.1 milllion viewers, and combined Sky and Channel 4 reached 3.5 million viewers. For those unaware, that is the amount of viewers that watched three consecutive minutes of coverage. 3 consecutive minutes is a pretty low threshold lol. |

Sky F1 is just a bonus channel. Sky 1 is a package channel

SkySports F1 is one of 9 or 10 sports channels that is referred to as a Premium service that can be added either individually or as part of a larger sports package |

I just went to Sky's website and they have a TV & Sports deal for £35pm for 18 months, which includes Sky F1 but this deal ends on the 24th of March. However, if you already have Sky Entertainment, at £22pm for 18 months, you can get Sky F1 for an extra £10pm. Then there is the TV license.

Well that’s good, but I guess the F1 channel had to be an add on. They need to make it worth it

At least these days the old argument of having to have the football to get F1 isn't there as you can subscribe to just one sports channel...and it doesn't have to be a football one. |

That only seems to apply to Sky subscribers with at least their basic bundle, and I think that the offer ends shortly, although I'm not positive on that. I'm a Virgin Media customer, and having just looked at what is on offer through them, it appears that the F1 channel can only be had by purchasing the full Sky sports package at about £35 per month, minimum 18 months. Well, as I haven't watched any F1 for at least 5 years now, I guess that I won't miss watching it in the future. Well done, Mr E and the spineless, greedy and grasping team principles. |

Yeah, it makes sense for Sky to other this to subscribers. I think ot could be better though
I think F1 is still a great series, but we let that senile Bernie make too many decisions. Obviously the teams decided not to get involved |

Going forward where Liberty have made tv deals they haven’t been rushing back to fta tv.The streaming service is $A300/year which is more than for any other sport I’ve seen.As a point of comparison here in Australia we get all of EPL plus all of Champions League for $A180/year.Moto GP is $A220/year and Kayo which has nearly all sport held in Australia plus F1,Moto GP,all professional golf tours and all international cricket worldwide is $A300/year.
The terminal decline in the fta tv business means that people will have to pay directly for nearly all premium sport.Finding the price point that will produce the best return is the trick. |

Well this is different. Sounds like you have good value for money TV wise down under, with MotoGP, golf, F1 and the like. Good investment there

Kayo is an attempt to find a price point that will draw in a lot of people and hopefully not lose too many subscribers switching from Foxtel to Kayo.It only started up 4 months ago. |

Speaking of Murdoch the new Fox has listed in the US.
It is the Murdoch Family vehicle for the Fox assets remaining after the sell off to Disney of the Movie and Entertainment assets. Holds Fox News, Fox Cable, the sports assets and Newscorp. A real concentration of media and political power. While it is listed and trades as a Public company the voting shares are held by the Murdochs. As well as Rupert and Lachlan and othe family members the board features the former House Speaker Ryan and (of interest here ) Chase Carey. |

Well it’s still Fox under a different ownership. Disney now will have more say of it. Murdoch is probably coming to the end of his time and that it is time to move, hence selling most of his stake. That’s how it works
Of course the board could stay, don’t know where Rupert would go and Chase Carey, will he stay now he’s in F1? |

That’s good, just a sideline for them. Still expanding their business, plenty of additions to the board. Now they have an F1 person on there, plus some family members thanks to Rupert. They need it to keep going. No surprise they are excited, they need more people on the board

Well they need to do this, they need to make money. They need more people to help make the right decisions. Hence why they have chosen the people they have. The Murdochs will still be involved though. Dunno how long Rupert has got left though. They will continue without him though if they need to, they always will

Well Ted's new show aired on Sky this evening.... It was an FOM production not a Sky show so might appear on the FOM website or youtube channel at some point.
Him and Rob Smedley in the FOM base at Biggin Hill. It was clunky Not sure whether it was the editing (not a live show) or what and certainly Smedley is no natural on camera. I feel it tried to cover too much ground for that format in just a 30 minute TV slot (with no as break). Could easily have been an hour long show. At least for the first one. Ted seemed to suggest that he was in Barcelona during testing but wan't clear whether the first or second week, or who he was working with at the time. He should be in Bahrain so it will be interesting to see whether he's doing both Sky and FOM whilst on-site in the same way as Herbert and Brookes/Pinkham do with the driver parade. |

What Sky channel was it on? Not sure if it would have been any good. He had Smedley but that was it. Not sure how much testing attendance he did. Certainly it would been better than nothing if he went there
Not sure they need him for Bahrain. They have their own team now and Herbet is still as good as ever |

Oh and there is now a tweet from Rachel Brookes which suggests that it'll be China that Ted makes an appearance but again not clear whether Sky or FOM or Both. |

What is a sideline for who?
This is the new company after selling of some of their business, not expanding. Quote:
Why do you think the board needs to grow further? |
