I don't think Ecclestone realises how much damage he's causing and I wish somone with some clout would confront him.

If over 18 months wasn't considered long enough to get the physical work done why is there even speculation that something could be done in 5? The circuit has to pass an FIA inspection 3 months before the race date!

I'd love the GP to be held at Donington but get real...... it is very unlikely the circuit could be ready in 2011, let alone 2010.

Methinks Bernie is making some positive noises so someone will snap up the track and at least repair it to a suitable state, afterall he was friends with the late Tom Wheatcroft and surely still with the rest of Tom's family.

For gawd's sake. I'd snap it up at the right price, because I'd be happy to have racing there. But a GP? Never.

Bernie's demands [financial and otherwise] make it all but impossible for anybody to stage a Grand Prix commercially. Its becoming like staging the Olympics - there have to be other reasons - i.e. wealthy Sheiks, government backing etc... Its very sad but that appears to be the way its going.

Yeah, very sad----- but very true. I'm not sure a commercially successful GP could be held in any country at the moment. With the costs in the sport (even without BE), the prices that would have to be charged to sponsors, advertisers and the spectators to generate a profit would be prohibitive. All that being said, countries such as Britain would probably come closest as the public are more interested than the public in the Far East so would probably accept higher prices. The sponsors / advertisers would also accept higher prices because the public interest in there.

Scoop film footage

I've just unearthed (actually, that's appropriate!) this film footage of one of the special vehicles being built for the 2010 British Grand Prix at Donington.
This footage shows the vehicle testing at Donington and other venues.

Now, if Simon Gillett had got his hands on a few of those, he might have had a bit more credibility.

Very worried for the health of Mr Gillett.

He does appear to be a little stressed.

It does appear Simon is now totally divorced from reality, can you seriously say any potential investor in Donington would want anything to do with Gillett.

The bloke has gone from the realms of fantasy to cloud cuckoo land.

If a deal with Silverstone isn't done on the 9th though, a investor could be there for Donington.

Lets wait and see.

But I agree now, can't see a race thier in 2010.

What makes the deal more attractive for a Donington investor after Silverstone had been ruled out ?

Just read Gillett's comments on the Autosport Website. The man is raving mad, Walter Mitty had a better sense of reality than Gillett.
