Firestone already committed to supplying the Indy Lights version with tires till '14 if it gets accepted. The D'Wing concept would work in any formula.

Also, going back to your post about the AMR-1 chassis being used, the biggest thing was that it was already accepted by the FIA as passing the crash test and being the closest to the original concept. That alone saved the team a ton of cash on development.

I bet it shows up at Petit. And if the Indy Lights concept isn't chosen, there is a very good chance you will see it in the near (2-3 year) future.

I assume it will show up at Petit--I am assuming it will be put in storage there or near there after the race.

Indy Lights guarantees it two years---If it gets chosen. I'd think the Dyson package, which includes an engine, might be an easier deal to sell, but if DWing LLC can line up a motor supplier, Lights would be a great way to get exposure---and to get exposure for Lights.

As someone else pointed out though, not much good to have a car in a training series which is radically different that the main series.

Where would you expect to see it in two-three years? That part mystifies me. Do you mean ACO will make room for it in its 2015 regs, or that ALMS will create a spec class in 2014, or what? Where do you expect to see it in a few years?

Haha, when all else fails, blame Obama. He doesn't even make the laws.

I don't think the DW will be raced anytime soon again. Where is it's place? That has yet to be found.

Sorry, that money was needed to pay off a day's worth of interest on the National Debt. If it didn't go towards that it probably went to some obese single woman with 16 kids in a one bedroom apartment.

Yeah, I'm really liking the Romney Ryan plan of cuts to everything but Military and such. Then not raising any taxes at all (which is what we have now that they make a point about being so bad). This has nothing to do with the Deltawing at all, of course.

Gordon Kirby has some news regarding the Delta Wing:

"Part of the transaction and the contract with Jim and his people is that the Delta Wing will be a part of the prototype class in 2014 and will be part of the ALMS in 2013," Panoz said. "That is part of the agreement.

"We're working through the logistics of building cars. We are designing installations for different engines and we're trying to conclude one or two engine deals so customers have options. We've been working on a new tub for the production car and we're moving along on all fronts. We'd love to have a car that could test and participate next year."

Panoz wouldn't confirm that the Delta Wing will race in next month's Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta but he said testing and planning for that eventuality have been going ahead.

"The car tested in the UK last week and will be here in Georgia on the 18th or 19th of September," Panoz admitted. "We are making a few components to adapt the car from what was needed at Le Mans to the set-up we need at Road Atlanta. We need to get those pieces on the car and do some testing."

An announcement is expected by the end of this week that the Delta Wing will compete in the Petit Le Mans and designer Ben Bowlby is excited about racing his baby once again and preparing the Delta Wing for a full season of racing next year. Nor could he be more pleased with the ALMS/Grand-Am merger.

I can't remember who asked, but somewhere on this forum a question about the DW's intellectual property was asked, and who owns it. Well it turns out it may be Chip Ganassi. Well at least Chip claims to own patents for it in this interview:

Deltawing seems to be getting on really well at Road Atlanta, but that's PR-babble for you.
Although I hope not to see DW's replacing 'normal' LMP cars, I think it is a rather interesting concept and I hope they do well!

To finish first, first you have to finish. Not that they are going to aim for a first place, but I think their goal is to reach the finish. Reaching that will be an achievement in it's own right and will no doubt gather valuable information. No point of rushing and as a result breaking it when you are only racing yourself!

(Not implying they will be crawling around, mind!)

I don't think the car's optimized nor developed at all these past several months. Gunnar Jeannette we know is quick, and so is Lucas Ordoñez, but the lack of testing hurts it.

well I am glad to see it running again and hope to see it racing in 2013, the way thinks are looking it should have plenty of chances of making the grid at most races and with some decent development it could do well against the lmp2 and perhaps even the lower end lmp1's

Car is running Le Mans areo and Michelins. Y'all don't think they are going to post a good time on a youtube video do you?

More tests in the next couple of weeks at Road ATL.
