I agree they will be there in 2011 and this is the easiest/cheapest performance development potential they have is to get the regulations changed again.
Old saying still holds true, "how fast do you want to go, how much money do you want to spend?" |

Presumably Aston Martin will partially fund the LMP1 program by selling customer cars.
How many DBR9's were sold, they were expensive but seemed quite plentiful. |

There's another Aston-related story in Autosport. They're suggesting Sam Hancock's Aston LM drive is linked to him being co-owner of the Jota Sport team, who will be running a GT4 Vantage at the Spa 24 hours and the Silverstone Britcar 24 hours in October for Hancock and team co-owner Simon Dolan- apparently the start of a planned 4-year deal with Aston They should be joined by AMR-contracted drivers for the enduros, and plan to move up to the LMS next year with a GT2 Vantage and potentially graduate to LMP1 for 2012. Autosport think they might be one of those Aston P1 customers.... Last edited by KA; 3 Jun 2010 at 18:08. |

The ACO eliminating V10 and V12 engines still bothers me. The Aston V12 is a thing of beauty. Mandate displacement limits sure, but not engine configuration.Nonetheless, at least Aston in carrying on in both LMP1 and GT2.

The whole thing irks me. Given the fact that the equalization between different takes on N/A engines has never been an issue - or if it has than hardly to the degree of petrol vs diesel - I think they've just eliminated a whole lot of variety in the name of dubious competition/economy (of either type) gains.

Looks like they are developing a business model to have a works programme partially funded by the sale of cars to privateers - I hope it works as it will certainly add competitive cars to the grid.

Pit report from Speed broadcast: George Howard-Chappell had said that don't be surprised to see them (Fernandez?) back in ALMS this year. Road America and Mosport are interesting, but probably won't make it to Petit.

Given that Fernandez brought some Lowe's sponsorship, and their corporate office aren't that far away, it would have been kind of nice to see them at PLM.

Part of the appeal of this type of racing for me in the variety of cars on offer, so good on Aston going for an open top. Peugeot will probably be back with a closed car, we'll have to see what Audi do now. |
