Interesting take on the RS Spyder here:
http://www.sportscarpros.com/baby-yo...re/default.htm "But, hold on a minute. What about winning overall, particularly since, even in its current LMP2 form, the RS Spyder has shown tremendous potential to rub with “the Big Boys.” It is that this point that things begin to get interesting, and speculation comes into play. One part of the puzzle can be found in the seeming ease with which the LMP2 chassis can be transformed by the addition of large wheels and tires and minor aerodynamic changes into and LMP1 car, as is the case with the latest Lola spyders." "Let's assume that the 2007 playing field will have a definite tilt towards the diesel camp and its Peugeot entries. If Porsche does harbor aspirations of winning the 24 Hours outright with the RS Spyder, then the window of opportunity would appear to be limited to this coming June. Beyond that, circumstances could make such a try much more difficult, and much more expensive." |

From Audi newsletter:
Audi R10 world premiere in Paris Le Mans: The countdown has started: On Tuesday, 13 December, Audi unveils the eagerly awaited successor of the ultra-successful Audi R8 in Paris. The new R10 is one of the most ambitious projects which Audi Sport has ever undertaken. |

Just noticed there is an Audi channel on Sky Digital (around 250)
They have various Le Mans, Goodwood Festival of Speed etc. programs, so I wonder if they will cover the R10 launch? |

Afraid I can't yet but theres a lot more to the Spyder than we have seen yet.
Hopefully I can persuade Mike of Mulsanne to put a little bit up in the new year and I might put some on our site. |

I have a funny feeling that it's NOT going to be a diesel... I reckon they've got something else up their sleeve. |

My guess = Variable Displacement, Constant Speed Turbo(s) plus strategic controlled time/volume controlled injection. Constant speed eliminates spool-up issues that trouble all turbo applications. My guess is that both Audi and Peugeot (latter being French) LMP1 cars will be using this and thus the reason that unlike the restriction on variable displacement constant speed turbos still being applied to gas engines, they have now been made legal, only for diesel, by ACO just before the start of the season. If I am right about these turbos, how long do you think that the rule change was made known to those specific constructors before the rest.

.....what if the car slightly has the looks of the 2003 Seat Cupra GT prototype? This was a very spectacular car, which was clearly designed with racing in mind.... I can possibly not believe they put all the effort in that car and subsequently do nothing with it. Look at the "under the hood" pictures. Nobody talked about that car in this thread, but couldn't there be some kind of link?

However the car looks when its unveiled on the 13th, it will be interesting to see how the car evolves from that time through the winter tests, through Sebring, and all the way until Le Mans... anyone remember how many iterations of the R8R there were?

Excellent point. Something I've thought about as well. I think the R8R tested in one form, raced at Sebring in another, and then at Le Mans in another form. Not to mention, Audi then showed up at Sebring 2000 with a completely new car. So yeah, things could change!

The engine of the RS6 is still unclear: high revving V10 or V10 biturbo. |

According to some rumours in Sweden we could expect a "Swedish" R10 at Le Mans. Drivers? Kenny Brack, Stefan Johansson and Mattias Ekström
