I only 'qualified' at all because Oli Stirling went home (which I was very happy about). Next year I'll try and get there by right and will hopefully have worked out how to driver these newer, super-stiff cars in the wet without spinning once every 3 laps... and also to make sure I don't spin and get beached on the curbs and lose a lap and a half getting pushed off.

Surely they could have a similar thing to a few years ago with just the traditional cars from the Formula Ford Festival i.e. no minis. Have the zetecs, kents and all the classic formula ford along with Sports 2000 for variety as they are pretty much 2 seater FF cars

Sports 2000 featured at some of the 80s Festivals,in the days of 8 heats. Usually, the only support race was a celebrity Shellsport Talbot Sunbeam or Escort race.
But the 1976 Festival, the first at Brands, had a round of the F1/F5000/F2 Group 8 series as the main event. Not only that, Hunt and Lauda were also there, a promotion set up by The Daily Mail IIRC - remember they were both fighting over the F1 title that year. James presented winner Derek Daly with the trophy.

JD, buy a cheaper house and keep your car. We need you, or at least the SOM does

Initially I managed to get one extra race on Sunday morning (announced on September 29 on this thread). Depending on the entry level this would either have been a last chance race as described elsewhere or if there were more than 50 entries this would have been a 'B' final for those not making the 'A' final.

As it happened the Historic FF race was cancelled allowing 2 extra races so the Semi Finals were introduced.

At no time were we into a reserve situation. Walshy, are you sure your friend was not trying to enter the Classic FF1600 race which was fully subscribed 2 weeks before the meeting?

He defintely said he got the knock back mate. I'll PM you.

Just tried to check PM. I had this option turned off, but I've switched it on now.

Pictures From FF at Brands

Reading the forum there seems to have been more than a few issues to over come, but from where we were standing there was some excellent racing and a few "expensive" moments.
