I hate to disturb your happiness but I have just learned from a close source that AvtoVAZ does not want to sell the car to race it in TCR. It will not even have a 2.0l turbo engine. They only want to race with it in Russia. So if there will be a Vesta in TCR it would be a privately tuned car, like the Subaru or the Alfa.

Honda and Volvo have confirmed that they enter a factory team.
Volvo confirmed 3 cars. Nothing is certain about the drivers so far. Dahlgren is hoping that he gets a contract. I would assume that Björk and Girolami are more likely candidates though. Honda didn't say how many cars, but I think it will be 3. I read a rumour somewhere that it will be Monteiro, Michelisz and a Japanese driver (Michigami?), but then a german page also reported they will keep their current 3 drivers. As for the privateers, Sebastien Loeb Racing is gonna continue with Citroen. Bennani said in an interview a while back that he wants a factory contract or he might leave WTCC. Don't think he will get a factory deal, but he has the backing so I wouldn't rule him out. Chilton said in an interview that WTCC is one of 3 options for him. ROAL and Tom Coronel are looking at buying a Citroen as well, if it is financially possible. Zengö wants to continue with Honda, ideally with 2 cars. Then there is Josh Files, who would most likely drive a Honda. But for Zengö? I don't think so, cause they usually have only Hungarian drivers. Or will Target enter WTCC? Or a 4th JAS car? Esteban Guerrieri is also trying to put together a WTCC program, maybe part-time. Tarquini and Catsburg had a LADA contract and are now out of contract. Catsburg is also a BMW driver so I think he's gone. Somehow I won't rule out Tarquini just yet, he might put something together (I hope Volvo ). For Valente there was a TCR rumour. No news from Campos or Münnich, and I haven't heard from new teams either. |

I think Files wants to run in TCR International.
Surely, not WTCC. |

Yes, he want to run in TCR International
He was guest for JAS in Qatar I think he said on his fb in past that he will only run in Germany or some international series because level of professionalism is higher. |

motorsport-total.com is reporting that Macau and Monza (!) will be on the schedule for 2017 and that the races in France, Slovakia and Thailand will be dropped.

Just imagine a finale on the night streets of Macau. Sweet dreams. Very happy about Macau return. Won't really miss Slovakia but will miss Paul Ricard. Although I don't like the circuit itself because it is too artificial, it always provided fantastic racing. |

If GT racing is anything to go by, history tells us that the lower classes always take over as the main event!
British GT used to field GT1 and GT2 machinery, after a few years GT2 took over as the main class and they introduced a cup class (this later evolved into GT3 as we know it today). Low and behold GT3 becomes the main class and they introduce GT4. Now there's rumblings that GT4 might take over as the main class with an even lower class added to bolster numbers! It's a real shame that NGTC never took off outside of Britain as speed-wise they're quicker than TCR which looks like the way things will end up on the world scene! |

Previously people moaned - TC1 cars are s***, replace it with TCR. Now people moan - WTCC adds TCR, how stupid etc. Come on...
Actually, not a good one. I highly doubt that second class will get much attention - you know, every year WTCC promise to give more TV time nd attention to indies etc. but they still don't focus on them and they don't promote their independent championship at all. Same will be with this second class. Therefore I guess it will probably attract 3-4 cars, not more. I hope I'm wrong |

What a worthless managment Eurosport Events have...
2017 - mixed grid with TC1 and TCR cars. 2018 - onlyTCR cars 2019 - only Class One cars *** - Why don't support WTCC management more the private teams/drivers? They still can fill the grid with 18-2 TC1 cars (factory Volvo + Honda, SLR Citroens, RML Cruze-s and private Civic's). OK it requires major financial support fron the organizer, but in this situation they should do this. - What the Volvo think about that? They developed a race car, and they can race only two seasons with that? Can thay do some financial compensation or a legal action against the organizesr? - Why any team enter a TCR car next year to race in a second class? - Why any team buy a TCR car in 2018 if class One will coming from 2019? - Is it 100% that there will be enough Class One cars from 2019? Bacause DTM cars and Super GT cars still use different type of engines + is it surethat this factories are interested about WTCC? - What will be the conception? Factories wil lrace their new Class One cars or DTM/Super GT teams will sell/lease their year old cars to the WTCC team? |

Maybe FIA will change the TCN-2 rules to allow official teams for WTCC, leaving the Class One idea to DTM. Who knows. |
