So did you buy Sky sports purely for NASCAR?

I wonder how many people they gain because it is 'free' on sky as opposed to on sky sports?

coverage last night was much better quality picture wise, only gripe is that sky+ refuses to record it when the EPG says "coming up on open access 3" so when that is not updated the recording stops. But if i get the chance to watch it live (normally recorded live and skip the yellow periods / ads) then it's a winner as far as i am concerned.

It has also been on Sky Sports (in HD too). Only highlights, but this happens every week too.

I did squint so that it didn't look as good and made me a real fan

Managed to get hold of a freesat box on the cheap today.

However, it would seem getting open access is no easy thing. I have tried it manually and can adjust all the parameters I need except the FEC (currently 3/4, needs to be 2/3 I believe). As of now the only new channels I can get are the likes of Renault TV and Gay Network. Wonderful!

So that's that then. No NASCAR for me.

Using the Humax Foxsat HD in non-Freesat mode I get Open Access on the TV Guide without having to adjust any parameters. Have you done a full scan in non-Freesat mode?

I`ll have to try again - I tried a Free To Air (FTA) receiver and could not find it, so gave up and just thought it might be available on sky boxes.

Anyone else missing all the motorsport that has disappeared from "FIVE" through out the night presented by Diana Binks, NASCAR, GRAND AM, Aussie V8`s, X game rallying, Race and Rally UK, Drag Racing (european and US), Supercross and Arena Cross.

Why have FIVE deserted motorsport completely????????????

It's a an FTA channel on all platforms. Look for Open Access 3 after a full scan. (May take a bit of scrolling down on whatever guide your box has.)

I have done this yes. Still nothing.

EDIT: Scrub that, just found an open access 3 channel after some button mashing in some obscure menu. Currently a picture of, err, I don't know what it is. White liney thing on a black background.

Am quite upset I won't be in tonight now!

If you are recording it on Open Access 3 makes sure you record each part. It is split in to several programmes for some unknown reason!

I think the quality of the picture is much better this week. Maybe Open Access have more bandwidth now.

It is no HD picture, but no real fan would want that

This had me baffled until I checked the EPG.Extra half hour programmes had been added after the original one scheduled to end at 2030GMT.I guess this was to allow for late running-which was needed for 15mins after which it shut down.
Picture quality I agree has improved-but they still don't seem to know what to do during the many US ad breaks.Exactly who is paying for this as there are no paid ads?

Hi guys,thought id join in the fun. love my NASCAR,never thought id say that until SKY started showing it a couple of years ago, now its up there with my other favourite motorsports.
I thought NASCAR themselves were paying for the coverage, they gain by giving the brand exposure to a worldwide audience, sponsors gain more exposure and above all we gain! Of course i could be completely wrong.
Was miffed last night,sky plussed it,turned on the tv to see if i needed to add any more recording time only to be faced with screen congratulating jimmie johnson on his win! Still watched it though

Would make sense as he is pushing very hard to get to the trucks again this year and his aim is Sprint so it would he with sponsors.
If not him then how about Mr (Rockingham Speedway) Buller?
Has anyone any idea how much this costs?

If anyone is interested open access 3 are currently showing the whole of yesterdays race again including build up.The programme started at 10pm race will start soon after 11
