this is Lukoil Racing's car, built by team itself and raced in Russian SuperTouring-1600 Champ (now cancelled).

By rumours in russian racing paddock, Lada's WTCC car will be based on new Priora model.

But Priora isn't in production yet so they have to use 110 in 2006?

Indeed, not until 2007 for the new car.

And damn that "new" car is ugly.

Could be. At least they have some experience with the car and the regulations.

The roadversion of the Lacetti isn't pretty either but looks good in S2000-spec.

Which engine is in the 110 and Priora? Same engine as in Opel/Vauxhall Astra? If yes they could maybe use some parts of the Astra BTCC car.

The rear of the car looks like the Mazda Protege here in the NA. I think it was called Mazda Capella in other markets?

"Volgens Avtovaz-directeur Vilchik wordt de 110-serie binnenkort opgevolgd door de Lada 4-deurs Lada Siluet en de 5-deurs Priora."

So hatch back will be Priora and sedan Silhuet? I really hope this doesn't means they are gonna use 5-door version for racing :/

On autoklub.pl I've just read, that Alfa Romeo's WTCC program can be held, because Fiat is now focused on their rally plans. But it's only a rumour.

Any idea what this says: http://www.racingworld.it/etcc/notiz...?idtitolo=1421

While I don't speak Italian, I can only guess Alfa will use 159 instead of 147 as said before?

it says Kalbfell is no longer head of Alfa Romeo . been replaced by Antonio Baravalle .. so 159 S2000 could be developed .. Mauro Sipsz asked Kalbfell to let NTechnology develope the 159 on NTech money . but Kalbfell refused . but now it will probably change .. i hope so .. i want more sedans in wtcc

Is it too late to start developing a S2000 159? Or could there have been partial development of both a 159 and 147? If so, would Alfa end up with 2 partially developed cars to compete in the '06 WTCC? That can't be good for competitiveness?

I havn't read through this thread but judging by post #168, there is a lot of speculation about the 2006 season driver line-up.
So Alfa have ditched the 156 then. But 2 cars? And a hopefully new entry from LADA would be very nice.
I'd also love to see that semi-factory Puegeot 407 there and whats that Dodge rumour all about?

Nah, not really...still looks like a box.

I personally prefer the hatch (sport?) version, saw one of those on the road and it looked quite nice.

Chevrolet Lacetti 5dr Sport

(Of course, it is just the outgoing Vauxhall Astra!)
