The #63 line up is strong for a pro/am class. Glad to see Westphal with a ride, I thought he did a really good job last year, was smart and plenty fast. Balzan has been pretty good for an "amateur" so I would think they should be strong next year.

Cool to see Wilden get a drive too, he did a good job in the last few races last year as well.

LMPC was capped at 10 for a good reason. It is truly the fourth most prestigious class in the series. I believe that 10 number is a hard and solid cap. If P or GTLM fall short of their cap number, then ALL of the remaining spots will and should go to GTD.

I think they will race the cap to somewhere between 12-15 for LMPC. The best part is that in the next year or two, I believe that engine regulation will be loosened in LMPC to merge them with the P class, then it really becomes fun again!

*LMPC would be the older/slower cars in the class, but remember the 90's and all the slow P cars?

It's interesting that both of the 'pro' categories have lost entries while the 'pro/am' categories are both coming close to being over subscribed.

That's because the pro-am categories are both cheaper and have drivers that pay to be in those cars.

And the 8Star situation is what it appears based upon the Daytona test. Per John Dagys:

#25 PC car for Sean Rayhall and Enzo Potolicchio (or a funded driver)

and maybe

#03 DP for Gustavo Yacaman and Bia Figueiredo subject to the funding coming through. 8Star won't submit an entry for this car by today but rather at a later date if the money comes through.

Her name is Ana Beatriz Caselato Gomes de Figueiredo and "Bia" is a nickname for Beatriz. Spanish/Portugese naming conventions and whatnot- you'll recall former WDC Ayrton Senna da Silva, for example.

On another note, Magnus Racing really needs to lighten up.

Risi will be in GTLM for sure! I wouldn't be surprised to see Krohn Racing do a joint-venture with them in order to try and secure a second entry, especially now that he has moved his base of operations from Braselton, GA (Road Atlanta) to Houston, TX.

I wonder if the epic DP/P2 and GTD battle will end in tears for some teams due to tough competition in the front. Back when they had like 10-12 cars racing in each class, maybe half of cars had reasonable expectations to be on a podium some day, but now there could be some that won't even get to sniff it.

No Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE for MMPR. Only Vantage that could or will do is a factory car from AMR.

By the way, where is the GTD Corvette? I wish it was there. First, it's always the favorite with American fans. And personally, I prefer more the loud rumble of the Corvette engine to the ear splitting Ferrari exhaust or the gargling of the Porsche H6 engine. At least the SRT Vipers are there.

I suppose just because the entry closed doesn't mean teams have to announce anything. Question is when does the series announce the full season list, or will they?

That's what GTE is for, and you get competent drivers in those cars that raises the competition level far above GTD.

Well I do find GTD to be much more of a credible class than Grand AM GT. It seems they are closer to real GT3 cars just with a spec wing, spec tire, smaller air restrictors, and pro-am drivers. Personally I think the spec wing and air restrictors should go away.
