The new website is being launched.

I don't like the new Verizon IndyCar Series logo, it's too similar to the Tudor United SportsCar Championship logo. How about putting both logos with black background?

Yes, but we have just a 22-car-fulltime grid. That's the lowest full-time-grid since when? From 1997 to 2007 we had to count together both series. Has anyone the lowest-full-time-car-record-list?

You'll have to go back to the 2007 Champ car season. Just looking at Houston and Portland that year on Wikipedia both races had a grid of 17 cars.

Much of that season was run with 20-21 entries wasn't it? And that was after the reunification. I'd love to see a higher car count, but it's not terrible by any means. It's not only much higher than the dark days of Champ Car, but it's also slightly higher than it's been only a few years ago.

Exactly - the grid in front of us is pretty good in quality (probably as going as far saying excellent).

F1 has a grid of 22 cars, other championships are the same.

Changes in how points are awarded, including double for 500 mile races. Sort copying F1's double points? This makes far more sense.

IndyCar looking to return to Brazil in 2015.

I know a post about this is on the 2015 IndyCar schedule thread but I don't know how many posters, here on the IndyCar section of 10-Tenths have read that thread or even get an e-mail alert regarding posts on that thread, so I posted the Autosport link regarding this topic, after all this is the News & Rumours thread...

Gordon Kirby interview with Derrick Walker over safety changes in IndyCar plus new race control and operations procedures. Lots of interesting stuff. A sample:

"The biggest thing we looked at were safety-related issues," Walker said. "Side impact additions to the chassis came out of accidents that have happened before that highlighted the need to look at that. We went back and looked at the criteria the car was built to and reviewed what the FIA's impact numbers had been in the past.

"We went back to the numbers and looked at accidents that have happened and came to the conclusion that we really needed to up it. So we worked with Dallara to produce some add-ons to the chassis. We wanted to do it without making major, costly changes that would obsolete the existing chassis. Dallara did some tests and came up with some good safety additions to the chassis."

Included are foam-filled carbon fiber panels bonded to the exterior and interior sides of the cockpit, a carbon fiber reinforcement ring added to the cockpit opening and a modified headrest with a layered Nomex covering replacing the old, harder Kevlar piece. Walker pays tribute to Dallara's interest in doing the right thing to improve safety in partnership with IndyCar.
