I imagine Cadillac themselves. GM sells Cadillac's in Europe. they want people to buy a Caddie rather than a Merc or BMW or Audi so running under the Opel guise nowadays would be useless.

Exactly, I never stated different. The author purposely wrote the article in a manner that seemed like he was reporting a story instead of reporting his opinion.

True, we don't know the 2014 regs, but they will be announced in June and I bet the manufacturers interested (not GM) in the 2014 P1 regs know what to be working on. After all, the manufacturers had a hand in the regs. |

A DTM car needs waivers? Woudn't that mean the whole car is a waiver? It'd be great to see that same silver livery on the World Challenge CTS-V's in a DTM package.

No, Opel is completely broke and GM is planing to close at least one factory in Germany, there's absolutely no way they`ll get involved in any kind of high profile motor racing with plenty of layoffs around the corner.

The massive DTM failure might exclude Opel from any kind of big budget motorsport for some time. |

Their past results aren't the problem, Opel has always been a fan favorite due to their "blue collar" image compared to the other makes in the DTM, their DTM efforts always gave them a good marketing return in terms of image.
The problem is that there's simply no money to blow for this kind of stuff, they wouldn't shy away from entering for the fear of being beat, they simply can't afford it. |

Apparently, there's a report in this week's Autosport (print edition- can't see it on the website AFAIK) that Flybrid's hybrid system (as used in the Hope Oreca last year) will be seen in the WEC later this season- an existing LMP1 team may be using it after Le Mans- I don't think there's any hint which one though.

@Joeb- I maybe read it wrong or was speculating they'd join DTM. A GTE car wouldn't be too bad. How close are the World Challenge cars?

I don't know how this bodes for the WEC, but Speed and the ACO have extended their deal with the LM24 for a few more years for North American fans.

Good to have LM deal extension as it stands as the only non Grand-Am/CTSCC sportscar event they still show! Also I usually catch the speed broadcast of the race after I've seen it on Eurosport Last edited by Deleted; 25 Apr 2012 at 05:45. |

That might change if the rumoured Corvette P1 comes to fruition - unless they run it in ALMS and LM24 only

And why should Speed bother with six hour races that get no ratings and that would need to be broadcasted at 6AM in States, unless they tape delay them and just show some Audi-filled highlights during the afternoon... okay F1 gets aired during the night and morning but *that's F1*. They should concentrate on getting ALMS back when the current TV deal comes to an end (if it comes) |

I hope it Corvette decide to do P1 , they go WEC , as there isnt much competition there(ALMS) at present . Plus P&M will raise the game in P1 , as they do with respect to pit stops and tactics .

i don't think that a corvette P1 will be built by P&M, the society builds GT racecars and military vehicles but has 0 experience in lmp (they built a proto MR-2 but isn't comparable to a lmp). If GM won't directly project, build and develope the car, maybe they will ask for help to some american chassis manufacter like riley or coyote, or maybe they will contact again lola remembering their collaboration during IMSA GT era.

I pity the fool who thinks an engineering firm with the capabilities of P&M cannot build a LMP1 car. Pure foolishness.

The same could be said about Prodrive, but the AMR-One prototype turned out to be a complete disaster
