350kmh is a bit optimistic imo. I can see 330, 340kmh maybe. But I guess we'll find out at Monza in March!

i build what i think is a pretty accurate model of an 2017 LMP2 cars, based on pretty accurate data in every area.
I can confirm that, at least looking to the simulations results i got in sprint configuration, this performance seems unrealistic. But i don't have any data about the Le Mans configuration. For sure, the new aero rules seem to drive an higher aero efficiency than before and this is well confirmed from the data i've seen and used and the results of my simulations. I will go on running simulations, anyway i can confirm in Monza these cars will be well above a top speed of 300 km/h, in sprint trim. |

Well, we may find out sooner than that. I almost forgot about Daytona! Unless imsa cuts them back for fear of crashes.

If they run in sprint configuration in Daytona, the top speeds should not be terrifying, i think.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them somehow limited to save the tires on the banking, not for the first time. Sprint aero would certainly be a reasonable step.

350 km/h was an usual top speed for the Group-c cars back in late 80s and early 90s. I don't see why the new P2 can't reach that with a few less power but better aerodynamics.

I should know this but don't. Are the ACO BOPing LMP2 cars in ACO sanctioned races or is BOP just being used in
LMP2 vs DPI in IMSA races |

As I have read, ACO won't use BOP or reduction of performance of any kind, because the feedback from PRO and AM drivers was really good about car's handling. They said that the new P2 cars feels easier to drive than the old ones.

All four chassis will be testing for 5 days at Sebring with Dunlop rubber as part of a development program.

Finally!
When exactly is the Dunlop test at Sebring with all the different type of new P2s? |

So far all the cars that will be racing in IMSA in 2017 look like real race cars ... progress.

Not sure if anyone posted Lanky Turtle's Ligier at Sebring video...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orp_VeOE_Yo This new engine sounds great. Not as great as a free engine formula, but still pretty great. |

Strange to see a direct 'conflict' between the Dunlop tire test at Sebring and the IMSA Daytona one.
