1 Newton is about 102 grams, so to round it up 10N is about 1 Kg. The car is doing above 500 Kg of DF at that speed and it is paying for it with about 95 Kg of drag.

That´s really an exciting project!
I took a look to the numbers above. As you guys said efficiency is very high. In particular, Drag is very low, compared to other figured i saw (although they were numbers referring to 2 m wide cars, as per 2013 rules or LMP2). It looks much like an Le Mans configuration, above all looking to the Low drag Values. After all, they clearly say in their website their aim is to win Le Mans! It is anyway very nice to see they are sharing such infos so easily, although these are just general figures. I guess these numbers are coming from CFD simulations, so it would be interesting to know how they have been calculated (boundary conditions or simulation assumptions, a part from speed and ride heights). |

Right, if its 5200N thats about 530.2kg/1166lbs. of downforce vs. 950N or 96.8kg/212.9lbs. drag. Sounds good! Now if only someone would run the thing.

On the new website they have a donation and membership options for 30 pounds. Sounds like a good way to help the team.

It looks like Perrin already has 120 memberships. But the webpage says they need 3000 to start the eurotour. Hmm hope they get them.

Ah, thanks for the reminder. *just signed up*
Better money spent than on taxes, unlikely to see any return on either |

Edit: I did something wrong and images weren't showing up. Go to this link to see them, https://www.flickr.com/photos/124342...th/14150570647, or the links below.

Few interesting, blunt comments about last weekend's race:

Do the Perrin team have a tyre manufacturer on the project?......I'm thinking Michelin have their hands full so probably cannot justify the distraction, but surely a reputable race tyre company like Dunlop, Bridgestone, Continental etc could use the Perrin project as a leg-up into a clearly growing field of motorsport?......but didnt Dunlop close down their coventry based motorsport base due to a compulsory land purchase due to JLR expansion?......if just seems to me that without a credible tyre partner on-board at the early stages of the project, to advise on the steering geometry, suspension and aero-load interaction with the tyres, they will be on the back-foot to start with???.......and if they are trying to convince a credible race team to race the car, with huge investment, this will be one of the first questions they ask.......well I would!

Obviously it's a fund-raiser/race to raise (paying) membership levels as well as a gauge as to how much awareness the project can raise on its own, I wildly speculate, to demonstrate potential bigger investors the reach and validity of the project. Anyways, I'm somewhat surprised no 10/10er is trying to get his hands on the model for the appropriate photographing and publishing (i.e., here!) and general 'feels right' result of the thing. There must be one (at least). Speak up, I'll join your ranks ;-) Last edited by Ephaeton; 2 Jul 2014 at 08:13. Reason: attempt to increase clarity of statement |
