To bad that the #85 Spyker is put to the back of the grid!

Quote:
Already there has been drama in qualifying as two cars have been put to the back of the grid for having excessive cockpit temperatures. The rule is designed to protect the driver from overheating while driving and affects the second Corvette C6R, qualified by Sebastien Dumez, and the Spyker C8 Laviolette of Ralf Kelleners.

No Alexei Vasiliev in Spa? I don't see him on the entry list! And lets hope the camshaft chain will last this time...

Our dutch party will be cheering them two C8's to the finishline!

Realism goes to say,the Spykers are a bit down on power. Anyone know about any improvements?

Are you implying that Spyker will use their new 4,0 liter engine at Spa?

Well I dunno, Spa like Monza, like La Sarth is a classic horsepower track.

I wouldn't wait until Pre-qualifying next month to work out the "bugs".

No, they are replacing the chain system by a different solution

Hope it doesnt loose its lovely sound ? Wernt they talking about firing order before ?

Will they have a merchandise stand at LM like they did last year ? No F1 stuff this year ....

You gotta hand it to Spyker for sticking with it ..... hats off to them .

Let's hope the new chain system will work better! Do you maybe know if the chain broke because of the shift problems?

And will both Laviolette's use the new engine at LM or maybe only one car? Just for safety?

I'm afraid the sound will be the price to pay, however for all real racing lovers, it will resemble more the sound of a wailing Ferrari!!

I think those Spykers would sound great with the Booming Rousch V8s the Panoz use.

Might be faster too. Oh wait. That is a MUSTANG motor.....

On the engine improvements,

As far as I could see on the pictures the airbox still looks
the same as in the Spyder. Now they have the new C8 Laviolette
chassis this could be enlarged to have the maximum alowable volume,
in combination with improved aerodynamics in the airbox.
Is there anybody that had a closer look to confirm this?

Then for the chain system, this should not improve the reliability
what are the arguements for this?

Big problem they still have is the fragile 5 valve system.
Or is the chain system linked to a 4 valve system?

Lets hope they will improve, but I'm a bit concerned.

The chain system has been one of their top engine failure reasons in the recent past (the chain itself breaking), very unpredictable and nasty. If the team says it will improve their reliability maybe they have a good reason to say that...

Did they make any improvements on this system? If not,why still use it if the knowledge is there that it's gonna fail?

If it's a complete new system, as Brielga suggests, than it is probably a major operation to accomplish and therefore it will take a lot of time.

Time is not exactly on the Squadron's side because the Laviolette GT2R were build very late (this was caused by the refinancing operation of the company being completed very late).

Brielga, how does this new system work? Will the chain be replaced by "tandwielen" (sorry, don't know the English word)?

Yes, it will be a cog wheel based system.
