Autosport (Plus/subscription, or 1 eur) has interesting article, where they asked drivers and ex-managers how Webber will do and what things need adapting:
http://plus.autosport.com/premium/fe...in-sportscars/ Some of it is a bit self-evident, but I found it generally interesting, best and longest answer from Buemi, other persons asked: Wurz, Serge Saulnier, Davidson, Gerhard Ungar (Merc's tech director 98-99) and Chandhok. |

Most people saying the same things, that the biggest challenges will be getting used to traffic and sharing a car with other drivers, along with all the knowledge possible. Alex Wurz and Anthony Davidson mention the fact that there are far less politics in endurance racing, while Serge Saulnier talks about the different mindsets he saw in people that came from F1 to endurance racing: people like Alex and Ant, who definitely knew that their F1 career was behind them, immediately adjusted themselves to the endurance racing mindset, while others who felt they still had something to prove in F1 were less manageable.

It should be easier for Webber to adapt because he's seen all htese former f1 drivers pitfalls. And Mark Webber did drive in the Top class at Le Mans in the late 90's. So maybe he can draw on the good experiences there.

Didn't want to since it is behind a "paywall"
I don't have a subcription either, but like I hinted, recently Autosport added an option buy single articles for 1 eur via Paypal (earlier this year there was a survey, looks like they listened...). |

Pretty irritating Webber interview in the Belgian GP quali build up. You would think he was never going to sit in a car again. And then Suzi Perry says we will see him next year in the 'Porsche Challenge'. What?
Webber himself made perfect sense, as usual. |

Yeah it's been pretty telling how a lot of the F1 press reported the move.
"Webber retires" springs to mind. |

It does surprise me that anyone here would think an F1 programme and presenter would say anything else, would you expect a large car brand to promote it's rivals.

That's one way of looking at it. Still irritating though.

Webber basically reveals his replacement (at Red Bull). I just wonder how accidentally he said this

She used to do bikes, something else we can be disparaging against. No wonder she knows nothing about racing |

Webber couple of weeks ago in Top Gear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeYLvIPMeb4 I wonder if his contracts forbid him to mention it more clearly, just says "going to race with Porsche". Le Mans is mentioned though during a certain amazing photo from 1999. Last edited by deggis; 26 Aug 2013 at 20:38. |

Noticed that in next month's F1 Racing, there is due to be a feature on Mark Webber and "why he left F1". Wonder if he'll discuss Porsche in any great detail?
...then again, maybe not. |
