Entry list out, 20 cars.
I was told Depper and Joyce would be back. But theyre not. Wonder if some are realising this is a bit more than club racing yet? |

I think the penny might be dropping for a few. Speaking to a good friend (who is looking at buying a/some TCR car(s), we think that a lot of drivers/teams aren't doing all of the usual maintenance required of items like sequential gearboxes. That is the real difference in running costs between a club racing and a national/international spec series.

Unfortunately the starting grid camera hadn't quite panned round enough to show the lights so it is hard to see who did jump start. Good close racing throughout though, I think the championship will go down to the final race.

Very action packed today! Still seems to be a lot of issues with reliability.

Wilmot looses his win for a boost infringement. Ley penalised for contact with Shepard / Smith.
Smiley & Smith tied on points with the amended results. |

The drop scores are really playing against Smith - he has had a real good season with 4 podiums, finished every race and lowest finish of 7th.

The Newshams have listed the Cupra for sale, so either they are dropping out or have a replacement lined up.

I reckon a few will jump ship and look at different series, given the problems they've had this year and cost of a new(er) TCR car. |

Speaking with some people involved they reckon some teams are not properly keeping up with the general upkeep of the cars hence why there’s been a fair few issues at most races and some are realising that the series is no longer a club style championship and is getting a lot more serious

There should be a lot of new machinery on the grid for next year.

Seems Max Hart has had enough.
https://bit.ly/3RIajaa Definitely one of the better drivers, hope he finds himself a competitive seat somewhere. |

It seems like every single car on the grid has had some reliability woes this year which is not a good look for the series. I hope, moving to 2023, that we see some newer chassis/models. The issue I guess is that if budgets go up with people realising the cost of maintaining TCR cars, and buying newer ones from Europe, you end up being not a million miles away from BTCC budgets which is unsustainable for an ostensibly 'Club' racing series.

Does make you wonder what teams must do in the other series compared to the UK because reliability seems very different.

I did wonder that myself. Are the teams in other series using non-standard parts with longer life? I seem to recall a few years when one of the cars that normally ran in Britcar/750MC had to run as a TCT entry as it was TCR car but not fully TCR approved spec.

Is it perhaps the case that some teams are cutting the maintenance schedules (nut and bolt checks, crack tests, load tests etc) and not lifeing components properly so they can make more money from the pay drivers? Just a theory but I've read many people saying that is one of the big differences between the top and bottom teams in BTCC.

They follow the manufacturers service procedures and time libes m, while not skimping parts quality etc. Plus they don't run parts past there expected life... unlike a few of the teams in TCR UK
