Why are only some of the guest drivers eligible for points? Merhi got points, Jones didn't...

Jones (and Gelael) are both running their Euro F3 cars, which have the new generation powerplant in and thus aren't eligible for the championship. Merhi is racing an older spec engine, and counts for the championship |

Precisely. That's also why Jones and Gelael walked through the field. Trevor Carlin used the event to give his drivers a confidence boost.

I see F3 Cup leader Toby Sowery, in his much older F305, was quicker than some of the British F3 runners around Spa.
I would love to see him in a later F3 car for 2015. |

If Sowery has a car, a team and tons of talent, what is he waiting for to join the ranks of British F3? He has just six weak opponents to beat to the throne. Sometimes it's hard to see the lines we've drawn. Until we cross them. |

I didnt mean to start an argument between the Brit F3 and Club F3 teams/drivers. Please accept my apologies .
I do feel it should be pointed out that club F3 cars run 15 kgs heavier than BF3 cars and Club F3 cars run a smaller 26 mm restrictor compared to a 28mm restrictor on the BF3 cars. Also, not forgetting the BF3 cars are the newer f308/312. Given these facts, it's a generally held belief that a BF3 car is around 4secs quicker than a Club F3 car around Spa. These facts are the reason I believe the top Club F3 drivers would be at the front of the BF3 series. Not sure why Matt Rao's dad would have any interest in my or Biscuits views. |

FIA new generation engines are 28mm
BF3 / F3 Cup F3 spec engines are 26mm, with national class f3 engines having a fractionally bigger restrictor The long life engines used in various championships often have a larger restrictor, I think the Toyota engines are 31mm. Weights F3 Cup 305-307 - 565kg, 397-304 - 555kg, but I know many cars/drivers combined are never worried about being underweight. Repairs, repaints and fondness for beer add to the weight. |

Brit FF frontrunner (now race winner) Max Marshall will replace the European F3-bound Andy Chang at Double R for Thruxton, and I believe the rest of the season.
Yes, grid numbers have been, for each round, 7, 7, 6 and 14, but Thruxton has pulled a few more and the racing hasn't been too bad. The title race is pretty interesting with Cao having fallen back in the last couple of meetings, allowing Rao to take a 4-point lead with 9 races to go. What happened to Ghorpade? He was supposed to be at Spa... |

I would have hoped the lure of Thruxton would have pulled in some more names, but the provisional entry list issued today is just 5 cars.

I think Spa was always going to be the season high. Was expecting a single digit entry figure for Thruxton, but disappointed there are no one-offs for Harry Tincknell (announced for Double R back in April) or Alex Lynn who at one point was planning to contest this round.

Kids are not all right. Did Alex Lynn, Harry Tincknell and William Buller all get scared of the strong opposition of Matt Rao, Cao and Cia? It's a cold Summer. Time to donate that fall wardrobe to the help and to present the world with a better version of you. Which could mean facing your future... and forgetting past mistakes. Or finally settling on a brand new path. But a half of season doesn't wipe away old problems.
Irony plays a lot in motor racing. Did the FOTA-managed Andy Chang move from British Formula 3 to FIA European F3? Well. Here's my advice: have a little faith, and if that doesn't work, a lot of Mimosas. |

Rao claims a double-pole at Thruxton. Cao will start 2nd for both races. The title battle continues to look interesting, and hopefully all 5 cars can race each other instead of circulate.

How come GP3 is virtually ignored here, yet we've got a 15 page thread about a rubbish shell of a championship?!
Is it because at least 13 or those 15 pages are about how rubbish BF3 is this year?! |

Cao won, and Kaminsky managed to crash into Max Marshall...
...and yes Davyboy, the title fight is close, even if on-track it isn't exciting at all. |
