Audi wouldn't surprise me. They've already got a comprehensive customer programme and this is just another way to make money with that. GT3, GT4 and TCR a are profitable business cases if done right, and Audi knows how to do it right.

But they could let the TCR share of the cake to VW and SEAT and take GT3 and GT4 themself. On the other hand TCR doesn't need high investments.

Don't forget that VAG sell the R8 LMS alongside the Huracan GT3, Continental GT3 and 911 GT3 R. VAG seem to have no problem selling 3-4 different cars in a privateer race car category.

If Audi makes a succesfull customer programme out of TCR, I wouldn't be surprised to see for example BMW follow.

I asked TCR about RWD and they changed the rules to forbid RWD cars
Eligibility criteria for TCR Touring Car: - The model of car is on the list of TCR eligible cars for 2016 published by the WSC (only front-wheel drive cars). They say that maybe in future they will let RWD car compete. And is anyone know where someone can find that list published by WSC? |

If BMW and Mercedes were to knock on the door of Lotti I'd be very surprised if that RWD ban would be maintained

The A-Class has FWD and media says BMW will switch to FWD at the 1 Series, too.

Already looks a hell of a lot more sorted than the old car, looking forward to see it on the grid!

A bit late I know but I've only just caught up with the opening weekend at Sakhir. Racing under the floodlights was something I loved. Always have, always will. The first race almost began with a bang. Those Craft-Bamboo Seats, Nash and Pepe Oriola, were lucky not to have an accident. The Leopard Volkswagens weren't as lucky, with Comini's ambitious but daft driving knocking Borkovic into team-mate Vernay like skittles. An unwelcome retirement for the Frenchman and Gleason. I was surprised by Borkovic's struggles and Comini's too, expected them to be higher, though the latter's battle with Homola and Kajaia was great to watch. A solid opening victory for Pepe Oriola and a good result all-round for Craft-Bamboo.
Gleason made the best start in the second race as pole-sitter Kajaia got muscled down to 7th. I didn't think Pellinen jumped the start, it was unclear on the replay. Vernay's Volkswagen, before the black flag, looked very second-hand with rear damage as did Comini's after more crass driving, bumping into Grachev. I thought Comini's second race would be better than the first but clearly that wasn't the case. At the front the racing, especially the overtaking, was firm but fair, apart from Morbidelli's forceful move on team-mate Gleason, which backfired as the former suffered a puncture and the latter retired. Up front though Pepe Oriola made it a double with victory again. A great weekend for him. Craft-Bamboo were no doubt very satisfied with their weekend's work. Two double podium finishes whilst their prime rivals, the Leopard Volkswagens, had a shocker. I can understand Vernay's issues as it's his opening weekend in TCR but Comini's driving disappointed, twice causing avoidable accidents. He'll be one to watch in Estoril, a lot of work to do there. |

Very good. I'm a bit sceptic of their performances in such a fast circuit with an inferior displacement, but it's good to have a new manufacturer on the grid.

Homola takes the pole at Estoril, Morbidelli is second followed by Vernay and Comini. Oriola is seventh, Hezemans on pole for race 2.
