Really enjoyed that today. Even the first 100 or so laps still had committed driving and the pace was bloody impressive - so many drivers getting out of cars saying how hot the pace was, it was good to see.

Once the SC came out and fuel "windows" didn't quite get them all to the end of the race on the same approach it was on for young and old.

Sensational finish. Still struggling to believe that 88, 2 & 33 all managed to take themselves out of contention at once but as always there was someone there to step up and resume battle. Wilbur and the Gis were fantastic to watch for those last few laps.

Really happy for everyone at Tekno - they're a small team of really nice people and it's great to see someone from outside the 888, HRT, PRA troika have a win.

It certainly added entertainment today but it wasn't used for anything nebulous, solid calls all the way through although they were a bit quick on the trigger after Ricko's shunt.

I was thinking the same thing, that with an hour or so to go, that they would pull a few of these safety car calls out, as they usually do at Bathurst over the last few years, but gotta say, this years safety cars IMO, were all legit. Good call at the end, for the localized double yellows with a lap to go, though.
I don't have any of this infantile Holden vs Ford crap going on. Never have, never will! So, watching the last half hour unfold with a totally unbiased view, thought the Whincup/ Tander/McLaughlin incident was totally caused by the actions of Mr Whincup. He took responsibility for it after the race, which was basically a driver doing what he does........fighting tooth and nail for the lead in a pressure situation, minutes away from the end of the race.
No doubt the bogans will be out in force, jumping over each other, to dish out their post race verdicts, but he took ownership and apologized to both of the teams involved. Shouldn't have happened, but it did.....move on people

Not surprised really. With the call that close to the end of the race, they might as well have a crack.

Interesting that Mr Dane says that the penalties they've been advised of are either a redress or 10 points.

No doubt there'll be more to come on this and wouldn't surprise if 888 don't get a favourable hearing (from the same people who made the initial decision) that they then go with an appeal.

While Mr Dane is within his rights to protest, and is doing it in support of his sponsors, it is stuff like this that has the crowds scream with joy when their cars get penalised.

There doesn't seem to be an issue with them doing it on a cool-dpwn lap. Perhaps being under SC conditions is viewed as the same?

Well, they weren't really favourites going in. Winterbottom, Coulthard, McLaughlin, Whincup, SVG, Tander were all faster overall, heck even Slade was fast at one point but never seemed to get back up front. But they all buggered themselves somehow, while WD just got the strategy right.

Re Fabian Coulthard pitting, well they had to pit, they were never going to make it to the finish like Scot Mclauglin. They didn't have much choice but to push 100% and hope everyone else would have to pit as well, but then multiple cautions came. On fresh tyres he should have been able to pass more guys in front. You know 88/97 would have!

Not sure what Scott was doing I guess just hoping for multiple cautions so he might just make it, because he definitely wasn't pushing, but he ended up being the caution and once JW got ahead it was race victory over.
