It's not a fair comparison to make. Each series has a completely different dynamic.
IMSA has the sub 3 hour races for the most part and different safety car strategy. WEC is 6 hours races. |

Surprised to see the Kolles paint mixer still out there. And it's still behind all the LMP2 cars that are still running or haven't been penalized. I know that Nurburgring shouldn't suit their car, but that's kinda ridiculous that they're having the problems that they're having after how well they did at Spa.
I really think that they also need a new tub design if they expect to be competitive against LMP1 privateer teams next year, though that doesn't seem to be the case. |

Yet the IMSA teams have out performed the WEC teams two years in row at LM. It might not have been by much this year, but being ahead on the road is still being ahead, and being faster is still being faster.

At Le Mans they run to the same regs and the IMSA teams to tend to be better.

Bernhard is catching Lotterer ever so slightly.
When will Porsche stop the two cars racing? Edit - Lotterer reporting that he's losing rear downforce. Bernhard is within 2 seconds. |

Odd? I wonder if his tyres are going off then, wouldn't have thought that his aero would suddenly stop?

And that's not quite correct. Team USA beat Team UK in 2016. But team UK beat team USA in 2017. I still remain that this is an apples to oranges comparison and really shouldn't be made. |

Haven't the Porsches been within a couple of seconds of each other the whole race? And I do wonder if team orders will come in, since the #1 isn't an immediate threat for the championship and the #2 could still use a win to pad their lead.

I can't help that because it's the only two times ever that the IMSA and WEC teams race against each other.

Debris, tyre pickup etc in the wrong places can spoil the rear diffuser. They've got pressure taps in and around the car, that can indicate drop off in aero performance.

No change up front, and as of last lap on T&S Lotterer leads Bernhard by nearly 5 seconds.
Now nearly 5.5 seconds. |

The 97 is back ahead of both Ford's after a round of pit stops. We can blame BoP and other outside influences, but they're giving away free time in the pit stops.

In LMP1, Toyota were giving up time to Porsche in the pits until LM. That hasn't been the case today, but Porsche have a pace edge even with both teams having good stops.

Now the #2 has some small aero degredation, as a result of the left diveplane being knocked out of place.

If Porsche want to swap the cars to favor the #2 squad (who are the current points leaders), they can afford to do it with a big lead over the #7 Toyota. But they can't waste time to make that decision, especially as Lotterer has been the faster of the two this stint.
Even with the two Porsche's closely matched, Andre has been the fastest of the LMP1 drivers this weekend. |

Getting to the point where they can't. When they were separated by 2-3 seconds, yeah, swap them, but Lotterer has been gapping Bernhard handily given how close they were until this last stint.

Now how will things sort out on the last stops?
I think that the swap might have happened in the pits. |
