Yeah, the wheels are back on, just waiting for them to be re-torqued so it can get back in the race, it might be a couple of laps down but like during the Le Mans 24hr race, that can be overcome. The safety car is out there at the moment so at least it is bunching up the field.

The new constitution was voted in overwhelmingly, this dismantles the old system but it is in a transitional stage right now. A sub-committee of six , all with detailed experience in constitutional reforms and/or legal & business experience along with knowledge of the various sectors that make up motorsport are reviewing the minor areas of disagreement and will propose a final solution that could see some fine adjustments confirmed next AGCM.
Building a new constitution is much like building a new race car for no matter how much experience , skills and knowledge one has it I hard to produce a race winner straight out of the box first time it appears. If so McLaren would not be having the season they are currently experiencing. I would suggest that currently the sport is more in the situation that Ferrari found themselves in this season rather than McLaren. Time now for everyone to sit down and celebrate this past weekend of motorsport with the successes of Richie, Hayden and Scotty while sharing our commiserations with Mitch. There are far better things to focus on right now, like all the boys at Le Mans and Hayden in Sardinia in a couple of weeks time. |

So was the remit passed that was proposed by HRC? I.e. that the executive resign with immediate effect, etc?

Short answer ... No.
The proposer amended the remit to be a simple vote of no confidence with some accompanying explanation which was as complimentary of the Executive as it was derogatory. There was a reply from the President. The 'Member D'Honneur' who was charged with chairing that particular part of the meeting then asserted that, as the amendment to the remit meant that there would be no effect from the outcome of a vote, there wouldn't be one. |

So the status quo remains - again. Pity.

Not really. In reality the remit was never going to fly. What occurred was a sensible outcome with all able to extricate themselves with a degree of dignity.
By that stage the 'fight' had largely gone from the room and all factions had cooperated and compromised to see the new constitution enacted. The mood was to focus on building rather than demolishing. |

The Jim Clark Trophy, which recognises the driver who has demonstrated excellent performance and sportsmanship, was awarded to Brendon Hartley.
The Rally Founders Trophy is presented to a driver who performs with distinction during the rally season and displays the qualities of a true sporting ambassador. This year’s winner is Richard Mason, the current NZ Rally Champion, a title he has won a staggering five times. The Steel Memorial Trophy, which recognises the most outstanding junior driver (under-21), was presented to New Zealand Formula Ford winner James Munro. The Lupp Trophy is awarded to a competitor from Classic and Historic racing, who has demonstrated exceptional levels of sportsmanship and vehicle presentation, and who embodies the very spirit and values associated with the Classic and Historic movement. This year, Terry Collier received the award for his dedication and commitment to the category as a competitor and administrator. Volunteer of the Year was presented to husband and wife teamAllan and Sue Baird for their work as officials in a wide variety of events in circuit racing, rally and clubsport. Ron McMillan and Barry Carrington were both recognised with Technical D’Honneur awards for their excellent work over a long period of time as scrutineers and in other technical aspects of the sport. The Ron Frost Award was presented to Jim Barclay for his dedication to historic motorsport in New Zealand. Barclay joined the Historic Racing Club in 1998 and founded the New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing in 2010. For contribution to the sport, Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Karen Paddon, John Armstrong, Nigel Russell, Terry Collier, Jill Cowham, and Awards of Merit to Steph Harris and Roger Laird. The Certificate of Outstanding Achievement was presented to husband and wife team Richard and Sara Mason for their success in rallying over a long period of time. The pair have won the NZ Rally Championship five times, including victory in their home rally (Wairarapa) eight out of the ten times it has been held. |

Have heard this morning that Toyota have appointed what appears to be a new co-ordinator for the 86 class, Geoff Short. Seems some of the old network just cant stay away. Well at least Toyota have a bottomless pit for this bloke, hard for Short to send them broke. I can see his son making a comeback in the 86 class soon.

Following the August AGM adoption of the following resolution,
(a) That MG Car Club (Auckland Centre) Incorporated disaffiliates from MotorSport New Zealand Incorporated effective 31 December 2015 (b) That the committee without delay establishes a separately incorporated branch or other entity which enables continued MG involvement in motorsport, cooperates fully with the Club, and assists it to achieve its objects, particularly in respect of the MG Marque’s competition heritage, and the promotion and fostering of motorsport. The only sensible solution to MSNZ gouging the car clubs, with the current disproportionate voting system. |

However, what was resolved in connection with legal issues involving theFederation Internationale de L’Automobile (FIA).*This is has been the essence of the arrogant stance of MSNZ in the past. |

I wasn't concentrating 100%, but I thought he might have said that he might indeed try and round up a dozen of the 24....
Of more concern was his statement that racing in NZ has been/is too cheap (sic) and we already know that entrants' costs are spiralling. He didn't really answer Veitch's comment about the fact that increasing costs would surely reduce the chances of our successful youngsters getting a foot on the ladder. He wasn't exactly complimentary about MSNZ and their lack of foresight, but most telling of all was his statement that 120 drivers at a meeting wasn't enough to be financially viable. Totally agree with that and as stated on here many times before, tiny grids have killed many aspects of the sport. I'd add that is especially so with 1 or 2 make series. He forecast the demise of Aussie V8s as a premier event before too long and naturally enough, pushed his own GT series - but that surely will only ever be a couple of races a year, as NZ is too small to support a full series of new, expensive GTs. The increased costs are certainly going to hit the young but they are also going to hit the old and the Classic fraternity, even though several classic events have entry numbers exceeding 200 cars. I have recently retired and two other long term drivers from our series have also decided to hang up their helmets. I think that just as tier 1 has shown signs of a revival, due in no small part to the work Chris Watson of HMC, that MSNZ have now put the promotion out to tender... So, two steps forward with Tony Quinn getting HD finished and Tier 1 (or whatever you want to call it) having had the best year for ages, we get three steps backwards, with increased track/entry costs (to add to the MSNZ levy that doubled from $26 to $50, plus increased licence fees), HRC effectively kicked in the teeth and a Health and Safety levy. It isn't looking so good, particularly for the north island racers. |

I guess that was the danger with someone like Tony coming in - however at least there is Taupo, Manfeild and Pukekohe to compete for events and he does not have a say in how much they charge.
As for MSNZ, slightly different circus, same old clowns. |

they're clowns because some idiot keeps throwing lawsuits at them costing all of us members money?
Or because the promotions for "teir 1" are being put out to tender to find the best option for everyone? (last year's lot have already had issues causing a split as far as i understand) |

Actually many attempts have been made at removing the offending parties, but as others will testify the system is weighted in such a way as to make change almost impossible.
