Is the ALMS paying for CBS to cover the race or would CBS try to block them from showing it live online?

I believe the only reason the ALMS is ever on TV is because they pay for it.

And ALMS isnt the only championship that pays to get on TV (not just in America either), the television is needed because the sponsors want the exposure in return for their commitment. No tv means less sponsors. Its a shame but thats unfortuantely how it is.

Guy Smith just tweeted:
"ALMS to have live streaming from the MAZDA raceway Laguna Seca race." http://twitter.com/GUYSMITH16/status/13905889274 |

Yeah, just got it now. It wasn't there when Guy had tweeted!
I'm signed up now. Apparently it's limited to 10000 signups. |

The 10,000 person limit is interesting, I hope that ensures smooth streaming, but part of me wonders if they will get 10,000 peeps registered. Good to see we get to listen to Hindy with the stream too. |

I think I'll leave my computer on, and logged on to the stream for the next week and a bit, just to ensure my place. :P

I just registered, and have the link bookmarked. I'm looking forward to this!
BTW, a bit OT, but is there anything happening at Road Atlanta this weekend? I'm going to be in the neighborhood, and on the off chance that I have the opportunity to swing by, I was just wondering if anything will be going on, if the track is booked for something private, or if it's just open but no official racing sessions are scheduled. Thanks. |

SCCA Regionals are the following weekend; nothing on the official schedule at RoadATL, but you could always catch a Late Model race across the street. |

Does anybody know if they are going to archive the stream? I will be working all day Saturday. Sunday morn would be a perfect time for folks like me to get a nice bit of 'alone time' with our computers. lol

Murphy mentions that an American team may be planning a European LMS campaign for 2011. Mentions the teams' principal being one of the players in the rumored buyout a few months ago. So any ideas? Highcroft? Flying Lizard? Who else?

I think Rob Dyson was the third party mentioned. Which team owner has a driver with thick European roots that would have the sway to make the team owner change to running in Europe? And of those three teams they all seem fairly commuted to the ALMS.

Love to see Dyson in Europe for a change .
Maybe he is after some P2 action ? As far as I remember , didnt he do a race outside the States in South America , where Riley & Scott Europe (Phillipe Gache) well and truly trounced his ass . That result surprised me big time ..... probably the best ever R%S team , beaten by a R&S that never did much in Europe ..... lol . |

Don't know if anyone else saw it but the ALMS got coverage on primetime UK television last Friday night.... It may only have been the clip of the Corvette pit lane calamity at Sebring but its exposure nonetheless!

It was on the BBC programme: 'A Question of Sport', which as the name suggests is a sports based quiz show. The corvette clip was used in the 'what happens next round', the clip is frozen before the funny part and the teams get three possible answers to choose from (including the correct one), before they show the second half of the video.

Think it's been long enough Fehan and the guys can now have a little laugh about it being on a gameshow.

Besides it could have been more embarrassing for P&M... Peugeot managed to do it in front of a home crowd at the one race with guaranteed world-wide media coverage . |
