I didn't know where else to post this, but after a massive supercar crash in Japan, dsceditor had this to say on Twitter to Alan McNish:

Alan will be laughing at that one too. Even if through gritted teeth...
I suspect one or two 'semi-detatched' Audi drivers have been approached by people involved in the pending new entries from various manufacturers. They may be just letting everyone know that they are a/ available, and b/ of interest SOMEWHERE... It lets them up the ante with Audi, without upsetting the good Doktor! |

It seems that there's even more fuel for the fire for the Super GT drivers to Audi rumor: In the Super GT thread, it's been suggested that Nismo will be testing possible rookie candidates in the #23 GT-R soon. Whoever may end up being selected could be Ben's replacement if he runs in the WEC, and even though he hasn't been as vocal about it as Lotterer (who wants a multi-year Audi Sport contract), he could end up being an Audi man for a while if that's where he wants to go.

The same could be said about DTM champions, but still Martin Tomczyk goes from Audi to BMW...

Not only that but both of them produced fantastic drives at LM this year and would be worthy drivers to take on a long term Audi role.

I don't know why, but I looked up Treluyer's age a couple months back and was pretty shocked to realize he is as old as he is. He's certainly not old, but he's older than I thought. Either way, he should still have several more productive years, but 2011 showed that LMP1 might be becoming a young man's game ala F1 and Indycar. Marcel is not a pup either, but that is a little less shocking given his vast experience in big scale European racing. Lotterer seems like the kind of guy that Audi/VAG would want to lock up for many years, but we'll see. It's a very good time to be his agent, that's for sure.

It will be interesting over the next few years to see if it grows to the point where some young drivers would choose a works sportscar drive over a 2nd or 3rd division drive in F1 |

It should not be the decision of the designer to correct this , it should be addressed by an ACO sanctioned rule change .

well, you might expect that any sensible constructor will field a car from which the driver can see the road....do we need to regulate that too?

You'll end up with ugly high rooflines that look out of proportion with the cars if the ACO get involved.

It's not about the hight. It's about the narrowness of the greenhouse to minimize drag and the thickness of the A-pillars (safety). ACO should mandate wider cockpits (Group-C or GT-One style), that would improve both safety and visibility. Also would look a lot better too.

Why? One car has incidents but the others don't...the ball is in Audi's court to correct the issues, why do we need the ACO to hold their hand (and everyone else)?

was the ACO ever involved in any way with the design of the Daytona prototypes? If not, then what you are saying is utter nonsense, but ACO bashing seems to be popular these days.
