Sorry to bust your bubble guys, yes it is Bondy's Sierra, also Adcock's Corolla, and that Nissan is a four door safety car. In a couple of shots taken later there is also a white Walkinshaw (think it may be Darryl Hendrick's) and what looks to be a orange Walky (Lusty?).

Would have posted them here but for some reason ten-tenths keeps closing my internet explorer. This is the only site to do it.

We all know about the Texaco cars of 1987, but you guys would know better than me, by 1989 did the Sierra runners finally start to fall more into line with what the rules stipulated?
It is like any motorsport where people have their own interpretation of the rules!

There was a bit of a stink in, I think, '89 about front guards and more specifically the placement of the extensions but it was all deemed OK and the drivers got on with it.

There was protests about Turbos models in '87(OXO) and double actuator arms(DJR) but nothing that was hughely advantageous.

Another stink was over the Mobil BMW's induction system in '88. I think Brock was excluded from the results at possibly Winton? Hope yours is OK David?

In 88 the BMs should have been running butterfly throttle bodies as mine does. There are some fitted with the later slide throttle bodies that should have only been on 90 onwards (I think) cars that are running illegally at the moment.
Thanks for the info re tha Sierras.

The Park VK Commodore was not the Crosby machine. It was a VK unit built up by Wayne Park and Barry Wraith in 1985. It was sponsored for a while by a local (Brisbane) Bob Jane outlet:hence the orange colour scheme. After it was crashed, Wayne built the VL which became the SFAC car.

Do you know what the irregularities were with the Brock cars at that one round?

It is either chassis 501 or 502, 501 being the Greg Ritter car that Bright raced in rounds 2 & 3 in 2006, 502 being the car Bright debuted at the 2006 Sandown 500 and raced in 2007. One was leased by Team Kiwi in the early part of 2007 before being sold to Jim Morton, the other sold to John Marshall at the beginning of 2008, although not sure which.

Question for Chris Bowden, or anyone else in the know.

Has restoration work started and any of the cars purchased from Dick Johnson? Has the 93 Bathurst 'crash' car that the TAFE school straighten out 2 or 3 years ago been completed?

I think it was wheel size, the M3s lost an inch in width from 87 to 88 from10 inches to 9 inches.

The Mobil M3s ran the 1988 ATCC opener at Calder for no points and no prizemoney, rather than being disqualified.

Bill Tuckey says in the 1988 "Great Race" - "It concerned the air metering device in the inlet pipe after the air filter, supplying the M3s fuel injection system. In 1987 this part was free, but FISA amended the rules for 1988 to provide that the standard road car airbox had to be retained".

Basically BMW and FISA were having a brawl over the rule, Brock said he didn't have the bits for '88 rules. A deal was done to allow them to race (each entrant had to agree) 'in the interests of racing'

'Zactly - thanks for clearing up some muddy waters (that never needed to be muddied).

Also, it was Larry that tried to prevent the other entrants from agreeing; but he was on some sort of HMS (Walky) deal at that point in time.

The Morton car is chassis 502, with the Britek unit being 501. 604 was written off by Richards last year so he drove 503 for much of the year. Winterbottom was in 705.

I wonder if John Marshall does own the car as I think that's the unit Jason bright is taking to SBR to start off the year. Marcus Marshall has purchased one of the T8 chassis ( either the repaired #12, #12B or #14).

Isn't Bright using Courtneys chassis from last year?

Correctomundo, well according to Crompo during the telecast of the v8's at OP last year anyway, I think he said something along the lines of 'Brighty will be making sure James doesnt go and bend his car up because Jason will be using that chassis for the first part of season 09'... while he was following him I think during the final race. From memory that is, Im prolly wrong as usual

I believe that the Mustang's had a birthday and might've been at the Muscle Car Master (I thought I'd seen a couple of photos which indicated she's back near her best), the XE has been looked over I believe, and the others are still at DJR.

EB3 is pulled straight and is basically a rolling shell, in the showroom and needing completion, the XD is still painted in the faux colours which DJ did her up in when he repurchased the car from Alf Grant... at least it''s lost the Shell decals from the headlight protectors... she's in real need of a birthday... window seals are all perished, the paint's crowsfooted but she's there and complete...

The last (and arguably the best) of the Sierras is there in original good condition...

and Delilah, Dick's last racecar, the AU, is looking unbesmirched too.

Hi Henry,
If you are referring to the DJR Mustang that competed at MCM on the Sunday, that is the car Ross Donnelly has just completed the resto on in NZ. I understand he is going through the CofD process now to race this year in the Historics. He started in the DJR car after parking the Pine Pak Mustang against the wall between turn 3-4 (I think?) on the Saturday.

Regards
Nev.

Given it has a white cage (and the DJR cars both had Green cages) one must question that this is in fact an actual DJR stang...
