Wowzers, Dan Lloyd!
A bit unexpected but a strong signing, very strong. 2 seats left (or rather just un-announced)..... Given that Nic Hamilton said he had a deal I reckon the 4th Cupra Leon will be his... But no news on the Dynamics Civic yet? (apart from who sadly won't be in it). Will it be Matt again? or a wallet? or a talent? or a Son? |

I completely didn't see that coming, I've always thought Lloyd was having budget issues that prevented him from racing in BTCC regularly. But that's good he's back, hopefully for longer this time. He's always been quite impressive so should be interesting to see him in one team with Plato.
Proctor is sitting out or is he at Dynamics? I wonder... |

Unexpected news. Heard no murmurings of that at all.
Very disappointed that Mat Jackon's return didn't happen, was really looking forward to that, but think it's been 99% certain that wasn't going to happen this season now. Lloyd is a VERY strong driver and good to see him back on the grid. Much stronger than Proctor or other names mentioned. Last edited by mprmke; 11 Mar 2021 at 11:30. |

PMR did say that Jackson always had first refusal on the seat so unless he is at Dynamics I expect he couldn't raise the budget.

When asked about the second seat and why Jackson wasn't part of the team for this year, Weaver revealed: "As we speak, we’re very close to signing a deal, although there are still three people currently in the frame, so watch this space.
"We were really looking forward to seeing Mat back on the BTCC grid, and he’s another huge name in the sport and a firm fan-favourite. "Unfortunately, Covid-19 took its toll on a number of his personal sponsors, and we just weren’t going to be able to make it feasible to get him in the car. "Racing in the BTCC is incredibly expensive, and drivers bring to us a considerable budget to enable us to run the cars at the standards they require to win races. "We’re still in touch though, and would love to be able to work with Mat again in the future." |

Nice to see Lloyd back in the series. Let's hope he actually manages to have a full season finally

If Jackson couldn't get the budget PMR required then he won't have the budget for Dynamics unless he had already agreed to drive for dynamics because he's tried before and we all know how that ended

Jackson has had his day I'm afraid, we pretty much know the line up now, cant see any other major surprises, Rowbottom @Dynamics and Hamilton @HARD just stretching the announcements out to give the media something to write about
Not a bad grid to be honest! |

I think it is probably better than last year's. The big positives are Shedden's return, the two competitive Vauxhall drivers in Plato and Lloyd, and Jelley getting a better car. Hopefully the merge with BMR and Laser Tools will mean that the Cupras are competitive, and if so that will be another big positive. The negatives are of course losing Cammish and Neal, Ingram driving a less competitive car, and Proctor losing his drive. I think it mostly balances out, but this year's grid is still slightly better than last year's.

Not on 2021 grid -
Cammish, Thompson, Proctor?, Gornall, Neal? New / returning for 2021 - Shedden, Parfitt, Lloyd, Smelt, Rowbottom?, Taylor-Smith, Edwards Probably missed a few. |

Plus Toyota expanding their team, PMR back to running 2 cars Im disappointed theres no Cammish, no Mat Jackson and probably no Neal but the grid looks very healthy considering the current times |
