Not only the continued works WEC drive and F1 demos, but increased work with the F1 team and simulator work.
Wouldn't likely have got him a Ferrari F1 drive of course, but spurning a manufacturer of their calibre doesn't normally do wonders for your long term career prospects - those sorts of offers don't come along all that often.

He'll have a very anonymous year.

I'd like to see him with a team that can mix it up a little but with that mobile chicane team we won't see any of that.

If he stays in WEC (even if he's confirmed for F1), he might not be a full-season driver.

That's what I think, unless some weird stuff happens this season.

Hopefully he silents his critics. My favorite driver along with Hamilton. Hopefully caterham gives him a decent car. They have a deal in place to use Toyota's TMG windtunnel so hopefully they can take advantage of that. GO KOBAYASHI!

After hearing a 40 min podcast with Eje Elgh (Marcus Ericsson's manager) yesterday, I'm pretty sure the TMG windtunnel deal is a pretty big part of why Marcus got the seat.
